Chapter 14. Where is Adam?
The next day at school was great, I could walk around with Sam and Joanne who were grounded and not care about what anyone was going to do to me. I got on with my lessons well and even put my hand up to answer questions. It was still quite warm around so I didn’t bring my coat with me. My confidence built up even on that first day.
The only problem was I hadn’t seen Adam all day. I looked around the whole school and asked all the teachers. No one seemed to know. Sam thought Adam was just a wimp and since the night we poured flour on, I say we i actually mean Sam and Joanne I hadn’t seen Adam. Mandy and Adam had left shortly after. I watched them go out of the window. Mum was embarrassed and Mandy looked disappointed. Adam just looked sad. Anyway I hadn’t seen him since that day. Even though he had done bad things to me, I still worried a little.
The day went by fast and before I knew it the bell went for going home.
“So I wonder what is wrong with Adam.” I said to Joanne when we were walking through the car park.
Joanne just sighed. “The loser has gone, isn’t that a good thing?” Joanne said. I looked away from her. I didn’t want to bad mouth him but I was a little worried.
Sam joined us half way down the hill. “So are you two coming to the prom?” He asked.
He handed us a leaflet that showed a girl dressed in a puffy blue dress. I just looked at Joanne. “I don’t know I mean I don’t have any money for a dress.” Joanne said. I just nodded with her. I really didn’t want to go to the prom.
“Oh come on you guys I am going.” He said. He whined at us.
“There will be dancing and karaoke.” Sam pointed to the leaflet and tried to moonwalk down the kerb. The car behind him beeped and Sam about jumped a mile. I laughed at him and so did Joanne.
We discussed the prom some more, even though I didn’t want to go Joanne was warming to the idea. She knew that all of our friends would be there so she agreed. I had no choice to agree but I needed a dress.
“Hi mum.” I threw my bag in the hallway and went into the kitchen. Mandy was sat at the table with mum. She had a glass of wine in her hand and so did Mandy. “Hi Amy I think you better hear this.” She said.
I sat down opposite Mandy. She sipped her wine slowly then turned to me putting her glass down. “Amy I am so sorry about what Adam did and said to you.” She said. She looked sorry but that might have been too much wine.
“Adam told you?” I asked. I cringed.
“I got it out of him after a while. But Adam has been sent away to live with his auntie Cayla who is very strict. I am sorry it is short notice. He will be back in a couple of months but Cayla has put him into a boarding school for 2 months.” I couldn’t believe what she was saying. She had sent Adam away and I had no contact with him at all. I decided now wasn’t the time to talk about the prom.
