The acknowledgment comes without drama.
Just a joint statement, released simply, deliberately, after days of noise, after choices have already been made.
"We are in a relationship.
It began privately and was meant to remain that way.
We understand the interest, but we ask for continued respect and space as we navigate this together."
No apologies.
No justifications.
HYBE signs off beneath it, language restrained, clearly negotiated.
The world reacts exactly how it always does, loud, opinionated and divided. But something has changed.
The question is no longer "is it real"?
It's what now?
And for the first time, that answer belongs to them. They don't read everything. They learn quickly that normalcy is something you build intentionally.
Namjoon comes over one evening without a schedule to rush back to, hoodie familiar, presence easy. He kicks off his shoes by the door like he's done it a thousand times.
"Hi," she says, smiling like it hasn't been weeks of survival mode.
"Hi," he replies, relief softening his voice. He hugs her to himself and stays like that for a few minutes.
"I missed you." He said, kissing her neck.
"I know." And she's back. The Brianna he met months ago. The savage sass of a woman.
He smacks her ass for being smart with him and gains a moan. He gives her a look that says 'don't play with me'. He goes to her bedroom, plugged his phone to charge and takes his hoodie off. He just got here and her house is boiling. He's not going to complain because she loves it like that and he's just happy to be spending the night cuddled up with her in her sheets.
"Did you eat anything at work?" Brianna asks.
"I did right after gym, I'm so hungry though. Do you have anything? I'll just heat it up." He says, walking to the kitchen and dragging her along with him. His back muscles flex with just him walking and Brianna stares, distracted by it.
"Do you?" Namjoon asks again after a few beats of silence. He turns to look at her and she's just drooling over him.
He smacks his teeth "you're not even listening baby."
"I was gonna make steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Do you want that?" She asked.
"I've marinated the steak already so it's gonna be quick." She adds.
"Mn, I'll help with the mashed potatoes then, come on." They walked to the kitchen and got everything out to get started on it.
They cook together. Argue over seasoning. Laugh when the smoke alarm goes off.
"This is what we risked everything for," she teases, waving a towel at the detector.
He grins. "Worth it."
Later, they sit on the couch eating , legs tangled, a documentary playing neither of them is watching.
"I forgot how quiet can feel," she admits.
He nods. "I forgot how good it is to not explain myself."
He rests his head against hers. Basking in all of this feeling. They enjoyed their meal, drink wine as he tells her all about his knowledge about wine. She finds his knowledge range fascinating. Like he's informed or educated about a lot of cool but random stuff.
The pair got tired from their day's activities and with filled stomachs and calm minds, they headed to bed and knocked out cuddled against each other.
