He doesn't tell HYBE.

He doesn't ask.

He sits on the edge of Brianna's bed, phone in his hands, elbows on his knees, rereading the statement they released like it might change if he looks at it long enough.

It doesn't.

Brianna watches from the doorway. "You don't have to do anything right now."

"I do," he says quietly. "If I don't, they'll keep talking over me."

He opens Instagram. No filters. No soft launch. No euphemisms. Just truth.

He types slowly, deliberately, the way he does when words matter.

**I've seen the statement released today. It does not reflect my feelings or my reality.
I am a human being before I am an artist.
The person being discussed is not a rumour, not a distraction and not something to be erased for convenience. She deserves respect, not speculation or abuse.

I am asking, clearly for privacy and basic decency for both of us.

Please stop turning real people into headlines.**

He pauses. Adds one last line.

"Silence is not honesty. I choose honesty."

He posts it. The world detonates. Within seconds, his phone vibrates so hard it nearly slips from his hand.

HYBE calls immediately.

He ignores it.

Brianna's eyes are wide. "Joon..."

He looks up at her, calm in a way that surprises even him. "Whatever happens now, at least it's mine."

She crosses the room to hug him, their bodies molding into each other perfectly. "Thank you." She said, kissing him and resting her head on his chest.

"For what?"

She just looks up at him.

...................

The members find out the same way everyone else does.

Namjoon's phone lights up with their group chat. Messages stacking so fast he can barely read them.

Hobi:
You really just did that.

Yoongi:
About time.

Jin:
HYBE is losing their minds right now, by the way.

Minutes later, they're on a private video call. No managers. No staff. Just them. Jimin's face appears first, eyes worried.

"... are you okay?"

"I am," Namjoon says. "Are you?"

Jungkook looks stunned. "That post, you went straight at it."

"Because they lied," Namjoon replies. "And they let her take the hit for it."

Taehyung nods slowly. "I saw what people were saying about her. It was ugly."

Yoongi leans closer to the camera. "You know this is going to escalate."

"I know," Namjoon says. "I'm not asking you to defend me publicly. I just didn't want you blindsided."

Jin sighs, rubbing his face. "You've always carried everything alone. But you don't have to do that with us."

Hobi smiles softly. "Yeah. Even if the world's loud, you're not wrong for protecting someone you care about."

There's a brief silence.
