Nataly grumbled as she got out of her bed. She wasn't in a good mood. One might say she woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
While she was happy to spend some time at the Ritz with the rest of the team instead of cooped up in the testing lab where she usually stays, the inner bickering, pranks and drama by the rest of her team almost every morning, evening and night wasn't doing anything for her dwindling emotional sanity. And things got bad when she got angry.
Stomping out of her room in the direction of the kitchen, a terrifying smell hit her nostrils, cause her to cough violently. Something was burning.
Turning the corner, she saw a floating pink apron and two baking mittens holding a tray of burnt cookies. A banner in children's crayon read 'Cheer Up!' on the countertop.
"Oh, blast, I've done it again. Bother" a disembodied voice complained. It was Charles, Bryonie's ghost companion. Presumably she was next door, still asleep while her friend indulged itself in human customs.
She couldn't help it. She began to lightly chuckle from her place at the doorway
The apron span round. "Oh, Miss Eliot! I didn't see you there!", the ghost exclaimed.
She laughed again, until eventually she was in an uproar. The ghost, meanwhile, awkwardly tried to stash the banner away as though she never saw it.
She slowly stopped laughing, returning to a chuckle. "Is- is that all- for me?" She asked between laughs. The ghost rubbed its mittens awkwardly.
"It was Miss Bryonie's idea, although I was somewhat distracted by a novel, causing me to burn the little darlings..." he replied sheepishly. Nataly then first noticed the copy of Fifty Shades of Grey poked out of the top of the apron's front pouch. She returned to laughing as the ghost threw the cookies in the bin.
A camp ghost who reads smut literature? With zero culinary talent?
Who could stay angry at that?
