Chapter 16

Mum came rushing over to me. She was clearly mad at my lack of concern for myself.
" Are you crazy! " she yelled checking me over. I really couldn't help but laugh at her.
" Mum, I believe in Miss Swan, she won't change unless we all believe in her. So now, she has to motivation of my heart, " I said smiling. Mum just shook her head and also smiled.
" You are one brave kid, you know that? " she said as Dad came over. I shrugged as he rubbed his throat in which had been so tightly constricted.
" I just have a knack of talking my way out of stuff, " That was pretty true, because we all have the same needs, the needs of being seen how they want to be seen in certain people's eyes. We all gathered together and it was strange, the fireworks were amazing but there was this small part of me that was utterly emotionless. It was that void that couldn't be filled until my heart was returned.  I guess I can understand why Cora had thought it was room for my power, it was pretty close to the feeling of non content. We had left to go home to find Zoey waiting for us, Snow was having a grand time as Neal played with her. They looked so adorable.
" Hey Snow, thanks for looking after Zoey, " I said going into my pocket to get some money. I felt her hand stop me.
" Please, it's nice for Neal to have someone to play with, " She said looking down at the two bundles of innocence. I insisted and we settled on me looking after Neal for a day. I fed Zoe and she fell sound to sleep. I called Cora who was rather shocked to hear my voice.
" Summer? Are you trapped in this small contraption? " she asked obviously looking at the phone I was laughing so hard.
" No, I'm talking into my phone and you can hear it on your side, and when you talk I can hear you, " I explained and I heard her gasp.
" Thats amazing magic! " she yelled out. I sighed and got down to why I called her.
" Would you like some dinner? Mum and Dad are at the Jolly Roger so it's just me and Zoe, " I said fidgeting with my hands.
" Why I would love to! " I heard her smile through the phone.
" Great! Seeya at 7, " I said hanging up. I got up from the sofa and started cooking. When I placed desert in the oven the bell rang, I took off the apron and came to the door to see Cora.
" Hello, " she said as I welcomed her in, " I was really happy to receive your invitation, but why? " She asked and I knew the question would come up.
" This is an apology, " I breathed and she was looked at me. Shocked but she was still happy.
" You owe me no such thing, " She said, she was going to continue but I had to cut her off.
" No, I do owe you an apology because I always thought that even if your heart is removed, you could still feel everything, that what you did was completely out of no where. Now I know what you were feeling, that your not, " I stopped to look for a word to explain the feeling, " Complete. Now I still love my Mum and Dad and everyone here, but I just have a part of me that is blank. That I can't fully love them, there something missing. "
I hadn't realised it but Cora was hugging me. I wasn't crying but I felt like I should have.
" It's ok, you did the right thing, saving your father like that, " she then sniffed, " Can you smell something burning? " I was so caught up in the moment that I completely forgot. My eyes widened as I shouted.
" Crap! The dessert! " I ran to the oven and produced something that had lost its identity. We ate lasagna and had ice cream for dessert, Cora had gotten a bit tipsy so I took her back to Grannies. I needed a place to relax and then I thought back to the little raft I had built. When I arrived Kai was sitting there at this place where there was a cliff by the forest and the sea met some rocks below. He turned to me and smiled.
" Hello Summer, " he waved and I felt a small blush.
" I err um hi, " I finally got out and he smiled even more.
" What are you doing out here? " he asked and I told him about the raft and how I had adjusted it so it was like a small version of the Jolly Roger.
" Want to come with me? " I asked and he nodded. I saw something in his eyes like he was trying to prove something to himself. I finally understood when we were asking because he was petrified of the water. I left the wheel and went over to him as he clung to the mast for dear life. I took hold of his hand and he had his eyes shut tightly. I led him up to the front of the ship and told him to open his eyes. He wouldn't do it so I knew I had to surprise him. I gave a kiss on his cheek and his eyes widened as he blushes madly. Everything calmed down when he finally saw how beautiful the sea was at night. I sat on the edge of the boat and he smiled. He tripped over a rope and I laughed a little but the rope came off and smacked me across the face. It had a heavy pulley on the end of it so it sent me flying into the water. I was disoriented and couldn't tell up from down and left from right. I felt myself drop into the abyss of darkness and lay there.
