Tess's POV

The soft muffled whispers I could hear around me woke me up. Where am I?

Is this to do with Dan?

No, no, no. he can't repeat what happened last time.

I quickly lifted my body of the uncomfortable bed I was sleeping and felt daggers being stabbed in my head. I tried to move my hand to my head to massage it and that's when everything became clear.

"Hey, hey, hey. Don't worry. Your fine. Just go back to sleep," Josh calmly whispered as another person came with an injection and slid it into my arm, giving the syringe a light push before promptly putting me to sleep.

Josh's POV

"What is the patient's name?" The fairly young doctor asked. He looked about in his early twenties.

"Um...Tess. I meant Theresa Smith," I found out her name when I saw her school books sitting on the bed when I found her.

"Does he suffer from any condition? Cancer? Diabetes? Mental-illnesses?"

Did Tess suffer from anything? I don't think so.

"Not that I know of," I gave a nervous smile to the doctor so he wouldn't get irritated by the lack of information about Tess.

"And who are you?" He looked away from his clipboard and turned his gaze to me, waiting for an answer.

If I wasn't anybody close to her then they would send me home. They wouldn't let me help.

"Um... I'm her boyfriend," Way to go, Josh.

"Are you sure about that, you said it like it was a question?" The doctor stood in front of me with a smirk plastered on his face.

"Yes, do you have a problem?" I gritted through my teeth as my jaw tensed.

"No, no." He replied with the same smirk on his face. He kept his head down to hide his amusement with me being Tess's "girlfriend". After a few moments of asking questions and making notes, he left.

From the corner of my eyes, I could see something move. It was Tess. She lifted her arm but winced at the "pain" she was feeling even though there were no injuries. "Hey, hey, hey. Don't worry. Your fine." I immediately called for the doctor.

He briskly walked in while keeping his eyes on the clipboard and gave instructions to the old nurse beside the bed. She went through a few drawers before taking out an injection and placing it into Tess's arm - instantly putting her to sleep.

"Ughm," The doctor, whose name was Trevor, cleared his throat to catch my attention - which he did.

"I went through the system to find out more information about Theresa Smith, your girlfriend," he emphasized the last word on purpose, making anger bottle up inside of me.

"She is Schizophrenic. That is mental illness. She's had it since the age of 15. And..." he paused to look for more information. "And her father past away last week; her mother in temporary prison."

What?

She was Schizophrenic?

Why is her mother in jail?

Is she still upset about her father's death?

"Hello? Mr. Boyfriend?" He snapped his fingers in my face to grab my attention.

"My name is Josh!" I rudely remarked.

"Theresa is ready to be taken home. All we need her to do is take her pills and have some rest." He left the room and came back in with a wheelchair - which I guessed was for Tess.

I slipped a hand under her legs and neck and slowly lifted her off the bed, placing her on the wheel chair. Her head hung low, chin touching her chest, since she was dead sleep.

I rolled the wheel chair to the outside of the hospital and hailed a cab. Again, I lifted her off the wheel chair and placed her in the backseat of the vehicle. I slid in next to her and let her head rest on my shoulder so she wouldn't be flailing around while the taxi took its twists and turns.

Damn it! My bike.

Oh well, I'll come get it later.

I gave the address to the driver and silently sat while thinking about the overload of information the doctor, Trevor, had given me.

Once we arrived at our destination, I picked Tess up and she immediately wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck- like a baby monkey- making sure she wouldn't fall. I slowly headed upstairs and back into the room where I'd found her.

I carefully placed her on the bed and lifted the duvet and placed it up to her shoulders. I walked out before thinking about staying here with her to make sure she was okay when she'd wake up. I headed back to her room and sat on the small couch in her room and skimmed through my phone. After an hour or so I was lying on the couch, my legs hanging of the edge, lightly snoring.
