Tess's POV

"Why so lonely Tessie?" Dan questioned.

I stopped the swing. Slowly turning my gaze directly into Dan's piercing eyes.

The coldness in his brown eyes sending shivers down my spine.

"Come on then. Spill. I don't bite," He grinned as he took a step towards me.

"What do you w..want?" Curse myself for stuttering in front of Dan.

He took more steps closer towards me. Then began circling around me.

"Me? Why would I need anything from you? I just saw you here and thought about having a small chit-chat."
A small laugh escaped from his mouth.

I quickly decided to run away from him, hoping to not think about the past but I was pulled back by my arm. I tried to wriggle out of his strong grip but I was too weak.

"No, no, no. Sweetheart. You're not going anywhere." That's when tears were rolling down my cheeks and I was crying.

He pushed me against the hard tree and brought his mouth near my ear, "I-"

He was stopped by someone yanking him harshly back by his shoulder.

I couldn't make out who it was because the rain drops covered my glasses.

"Get away from her!" he yelled at Dan. I could see his face a little and he was fuming. It was as if hot steam would burst from his ears.

Dan let go of me and pushed me to the ground, making my hand graze against the rough concrete. He stepped towards the unknown person. Who is this man and why is he trying to help?

"Why? What are you going to do about it?" Dan fired back. If looks could kill, this mysterious guy would be dead and Dan would be in prison for murder.

Before i knew it, a fist collided with Dan's jaw. He instantly fell to the ground whilst groaning and clutching his face.

I was still confused about this unknown stranger dude.

"Are you alright?" he questioned, taking a step towards me- reaching out to grasp my arms.
I inched back, not knowing who the stranger was.

"I'm fine, but who are you?" I hesitantly questioned. Thank goodness I had the ability to show some confidence and speak.

"I'm Josh Young. I just live on that road," he pointed towards the road opposite my house. It was pitch black but I could still see where he was pointing.

"Oh," was all I managed to say.

"You should get home, it's really late." he said, breaking the silence.

"I know," I replied.

I moved away from the tree and headed towards home before turning around towards Josh and mumbling, "Thanks." And then swiftly walked away, in embarrassment, leaving Josh alone in the rain.

I probably shouldn't have left him alone, but you never know he might be a secret murderer.

I let out a quiet laugh, thinking about how many weird thoughts my mind produces in a day.

I stepped into my house finding no-one home. Typical.

Silence then broke, "Did you think no-one was home? Silly girl. Don't worry, I'll always be here to protect you." I froze to the spot after hearing her voice. This couldn't possibly be happening now?

The small speech followed with a loud cackle echoing into the living room. I ran upstairs into my room and locked myself in the bathroom.

"Oh you can't possibly think you can hide from me, can you?"

A sudden force pushed me back into the wall.
And again, for the second time in a day, I was cut.
Blood oozing out of my left wrist like a waterfall. Slowly I was lifted into mid air. My head hit the floor and a pang of pain shot from my spine, up my neck and into my head. Everything went black.
