I heard a pound on the door followed by someone yelling, "Time to get up." I opened my eyes to see Serenity sleeping curled up in Jax's arms. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of those two. I was glad that Jax was her father and Luke was becoming a distant memory. That little girl needed good in her life. "Good morning darling," I hear Jax say,"sounds like some of the charters have made it in." I was quiet for a moment trying to figure out how he knew when I heard the sound of voices and laughter drifting down the hall. "I guess we better get up," I say suddenly nervous to meet these men as the first woman in the club. I knew a lot were going hate me and would try to make me prove my worth around every turn. "You have this," Jax says while trying to get his arm out from underneath Serenity without waking her but failed. "Hi," Serenity says opening her eyes and smiling up at Jax and myself. "Well good morning sunshine," I say leaning down showering her face with kisses. "Mom mom no stop," she says laughing, "I'm not a baby anymore mom." "You will always be mine," I say getting out of the bed and throwing a pillow at her as I did. "I say give your mom five more years as her baby," Jax says while leaning down to kiss Serenity on the forehead. "Ok but that's it," she says while laughing and flinging the covers over her head. "Get up and get dress," I tell her pulling the covers off her,"We are going meet our guest. You come join us when your dressed so you can eat." "Yes ma'am," she says saluting me. I laugh exiting the room with Jax leaving her to get dressed.

All I kept thinking while walking down the hall was if anyone gave her shit I would have to kick their ass. I knew the Sons didn't always take well to change and this was a big one. As we walked into the bar I looked around at Gemma directing people to put stuff places and dozens of women running around blowing up balloons, making food, stalking the liquor, an decorating the club. "What is this," Sarah ask looking around the crowded club. "Jesus Chibs you were suppose to get her out of here this morning," Gemma says with her hands on her hips. Chibs turned around with a confused look on his face and ask,"Me?" "Any other Chibs here," my mom ask him looking around the room. He scrolls before growling out,"Maybe I was still drunk from drowning my sorrows in a bottle because my daughter just made a move that will put her in danger every turn and my family encouraged her to do it. I don't know if that is why but it might of been." Chibs drops the box of alcohol he had been carrying to the ground causing a shatter noise. Then he turns around and exits the club. "Well then," Sarah says as she sit down to a table,"What's all this?" "Your birthday baby," Gemma answers as she goes over to clean up the broken bottles of alcohol. "We thought it would be the safest place to have it," Joey says while starting the job Chibs walked out on. Right then the club door opened and I couldn't see who it was but whoever it was it had Sarah out of her chair and across the club in a second. I watched as man's arms grabbed her up into a hug and I recognized them from the tattoos to be Opie's. Then I heard a squeal as she hugged someone else and by the smallness of the arms I knew it had to be Donna. "Gemma called us told us you were in town and she needed to recruit us for birthday planning," Donna says smiling at Sarah as she leans in to kiss her cheek. I stand up to walk across the room to greet my best friend. "Your out," I say while hugging Opie. "Yeah I was going call but I'm trying get home life back to normal," he says returning the hug. "Donna," I say grabbing Donna up into a hug and giving her a kiss on her cheek. "Jax it's good to see you and good to see you so happy," she tells me returning the kiss on my cheek. "Feels like high school again," Sarah says wrapping her arms around me. "Besides we aren't hiding behind the bleachers making out with these two," Donna says with a laugh. "Now we need to talk about you being back and this little cut your wearing lady," Donna tells Sarah as she drags her off towards the exit of the club to talk. "How is she holding up," Opie ask me as Donna and Sarah walk off. I lit up a smoke before saying,"Honestly I don't know. She seems fine and like everything is just all business. I think it's only way she can deal with it all but I think she has finally been pushed over the edge. You know she killed a man begging for his life though granted he had just been responsible for her brother's death but it's not her. Then she ask to be patched in. I know that woman and I know she hates what the club is behind hidden doors. Yes she may like the family aspect and the loyalty of the club but she doesn't believe in the gun running." "She is one tough woman," Opie says while taking a drag off his cigarette, "She has been through a lot and if she continued as a woman in this life I can only imagine what she has seen since she has been gone." I looked across the room to see the club scattered with people all taking orders from Gemma. I don't know why my mom was making such a big deal out of this party but she was. "So how's Donna and the kids," I ask Opie while putting my cigarette out in the ashtray. He shakes his head before saying, "If this hadn't been for Sarah I know Donna wouldn't of been here. We fight every time the very mention of the club is brought up. I know one thing for sure is that if I don't stay away from the club I might lose my wife." "I'm sorry man," I say patting Opie on the back. "Well you know it's part of this life," Opie says as he stands seeing his dad enter the rooms,"I'm going go say hi to the old man." He pats me on the back leaving me to the table and my thoughts. I had heard it was part of the life more in the past few weeks then I cared to hear my enter life. This life we all accepted so easy was not suppose to be what life was. People weren't suppose to have their women and children in harms way and always have to worry something bad was going happen. I knew then I couldn't raise my children in a life like this. I didn't want them to have to watch anymore loved ones die and more so I didn't want them to follow in their parents' footsteps.

"So," Donna says as we lean against the air conditioner unit on top of the roof. "So what," I ask her knowing full well what she meant. She gives me a duh stare before saying,"Spill girl. First you come back to Charming and from what I hear you have in tow a 9 or 10 year old little girl that is Jax's. Though not only that but your actually here and with Jax. I never thought I would see you back here let alone as Jax's old lady. Then along with all this you have a cut and I use to be an old lady I know what this means. So why back here now, what makes you think you can accept the club now, and what the hell would drive you to patching in?" I light up a cigarette and face her before saying,"You know that the club runs in Opie's blood yet you still love and accept him. We don't chose who we love and Jax chases away all my demons. When I'm with him I don't feel the damaged girl I am anymore. As far as why I'm back here well the people who killed my parents are gunning for my family and myself but I don't know why. They already killed Zach and I couldn't take the chance they would take someone else I loved so I got an army. That's why I'm wearing this cut because my kids lives are on the line and a life of crime is nothing compared to the thought of losing them." "So how does Jax feel about you patching in," Donna ask me raising her eyebrows in question. I laugh and shrug my shoulders before saying, "I honestly don't know. I don't think he wants me in the club. When we talked about it at first he had said he hadn't but when brought up last night and the facts were argued to him he ended up agreeing with it. I think it downright terrifies him though. I mean let's face it these guys are not use to their old ladies walking straight into the danger with them. I think it may make him realize how dangerous this life really is." "One day he is just going go caveman and pick you up over his shoulder and carry you back to his cave," she says laughing. "Oh jeez don't let him hear that," I say back to her joining in laughing too. I heard the creak of the ladder a second before I saw papa coming up over the top of the roof. "Chibs nice to see you," Donna says coming forward to hug papa. Papa hugged her back," It's been to long doll. I'm sorry to interrupt you two but could I please have a second with Sarah. "Of course," Donna says as she turns to wave bye to me and goes down the stairs leaving us alone. I waited for the sound of the creaking to stop before I ask, "What's up papa?" He leans against the ledge of the air conditioner beside me and says, "You knew you would have the full entire support of the club as Jax's old lady but yet you still pushed being patched in. You even gave a convincing argument of needing your army and taking the seat your dad always wanted you to have. Though I don't understand why because let's face it if you could get Jax to walk away right now you would and you would never look back. Your my daughter Sarah I worry for you and you always seem to charge straight towards danger so doll just tell me why." I looked at my father and should've guessed he would've seen through my act last night. He knew me to well not to be able to. I turned and faced him saying, "You know my old man and John wanted the club out of gun running. I know you had to know because he was your best friend. Anyways Jax isn't getting out of this life so I'm stuck. Though with me in the club and him going take the seat in a few years we can change the club. We wouldn't have to worry about all the death or the law. Now that I'm in the club Jax will fight harder to make it legit and safer for my own safety. Papa you can't tell anyone I had an alternate motive especially Jax please. " " I won't tell anyone but Christ Sarah you couldn't of found a smarter or safer way to do this," he ask me clearly frustrated. I shake my head no and say, "If there would've been any other way I would've taken it but taken this patch was the only way. I don't like it anymore then you do." I look over the edge of the building with my papa silently just watching the people on the street below hurrying about their business. I hoped this was the right path and didn't make me slip farther into this life style. I couldn't go any farther in or I wouldn't make it back out.
