Once I realise what I'm thinking, I mentally slap myself across the face. No. I will not ever, ever fall for someone that kills and kidnaps. Never.

"Why did you just slap yourself?" Alisha asks, and it's only then that I realise I didn't slap myself mentally, I actually slapped myself.

I smile sheepishly, "I thought there was a bug?"

"There was no bug."

"How would you know?"

"Because I was just looking at you."

"Well, you can never be too sure."

She gives me a weird look. "Okay then."

"Do you know how long this 'job' is going to take?" I ask, effectively changing the subject.

Alisha shakes her head, taking out her phone. "Nope, I'm usually on my phone reading whenever I'm there for one of their 'jobs'-" she makes air quotations around the word 'jobs' "-so I don't really pay much attention. And violence basically goes against my religion so I try not to see or hear anything."

"So you're there a lot when they're 'working'?"

"I know it's hard to believe but Flynn and Lexis are basically my only proper friends. Apparently people find me too brash and aggressive. Honestly, I don't get it." She huffs and I let out a little laugh as I remember how she slapped Lexis the first time I met her.

"I don't get it either." I completely get it.

"Anyways, tell me about you. How everything was before the whole kidnapping thing," she says, her full attention on me. "I told you about me, now it's your turn."

I sigh and shrug. "There's not much to tell, really. Shitty parents, shitty school; shitty everything. Though, I was in my last year - still am - of secondary and just before Lexis took me, the school was about to take us on a camping trip an-"

"Wait, you're still in secondary?" Alisha cuts me off. I nod confusedly. "No, wait, seriously?"

"Yeah, seriously. I thought I told you?"

"No. When I told you about me dropping out of sixth form you said I wish I could do that and so I assumed you were in sixth form."

"What I meant was, I wish I didn't have to go to sixth form next year," I say, putting emphasise on the last two words.

"Jesus, you're literally still a kid!" She exclaims. "I can't believe Lexis actually kidnapped a kid!"

"Alisha, I'm only two years younger than you. Stop calling me a kid!" I huff, crossing my arms over my chest and when realising that only makes me look like more of a kid, I throw my arms down.

"When I get my hands on that boy, I swear," she mutters under her breath.

"Alisha, could you do me a favour?" I ask as an idea comes to mind and she angrily nods. Maybe she's angry enough to actually go through with it. "Will you let me go?"

She looks taken aback and then hesitant and then angry and then hesitant again and then finally, "okay."

"You're serious?"

"As serious as Harry was when he sung 'and I'm love with Lou'," she says and I furrow my brows.

"As serious as who was when they sang what?"

Alisha's phone buzzes and she looks down. "No times for explanations, Lex just said they'll be done soon. We need to get you out, now."

"Okay, but there's just one tiny, little smidge of a problem," I say.
