"Flynn," Alisha whines, shaking his arm. "Come on, talk to us! You can keep your intestines if they really mean that much to you!"
Lexis rolls his eyes from beside me on the couch. "Just leave him alone, he's being an idiot."
Alisha sighs but removes her hand from his arm and takes her phone out of her pocket when it starts buzzing. "Hello? I don't think so, no. Yes, mum. No, mum. Okay. Great. Okay, bye."
"What kind of conversation was that?" I ask, lying back on the couch and resting my feet on Lexis' lap.
She shrugs. "That's how it always is. Me and mummy dearest don't exactly get along. She's so- I just don't get why she's like that but she's just like- she drives me mad." Alisha tugs on her hair, shaking her head.
"Understandable," I mumble, placing my arm over my eyes, lifting it up briefly to look at Alisha. "I get it completely."
"I do too," Flynn pipes up before slapping a hand over his mouth.
"Ha!" Alisha points at him. "You talked!"
"Whatever," He frowns, turning his attention back to the TV where an episode of Friends was playing.
"I've never met my mum. Wonder what she was like." Lexis tilts his head to the side, playing with a loose string at the bottom of my-- Alisha's-- jeans. "Maybe I wouldn't have turned out like this if I knew her."
Everyone kind of stills at that and an uncomfortable silence fills the room, the only noise being the TV playing quietly.
I shift awkwardly and attempt to lighten the atmosphere, "Maybe, but I think - no, I know - I would much prefer this Lexis over any other. Not the murdering part of you though, obviously."
"I thought you hate me?"
"Oh, I do, don't ever doubt that. But what I'm saying is I hate this Lexis and this Lexis is the one I hate, so don't change because I have to hate this Lexis. I mean, who knows? Maybe the other Lexis would've been a worse Lexis than this Lexis and it's just be one whole circle of horrible Lexises," I babble, confusing myself halfway through.
"You- what?" Lexis looks completely baffled and I groan, placing my hands over my face as Flynn and Alisha let out quiet laughs.
"I have no clue what I just said. I blame the pizza, it was too good to be true. Bet you it was drugged. They do that nowadays, you know? Drug food. I mean, I don't know why they'd pick out our specific pizza, but you never know, people are really messed up. Just look at you two-" I point between Lexis and Flynn, "-but I wouldn't say you guys are pizza-drugger kind of messed up-"
"Faye," Lexis cuts me off.
"What?"
"Shut up."
I place a hand over my heart in mock hurt, pouting. "That was mean Lexie-poo. And here I was starting to think you liked me. Guess I was wrong."
"Oh you weren't wrong." Flynn smirks from his seat, flickering his eyes to Lexis who tries to discreetly shake his head.
"Shut up," Lexis hisses at him.
"Oh shit!" Alisha screams, an actual squeal leaving her mouth. She gets up from her position next to Flynn and jumps up and down. "Fuck yes! Oh my God! Fuck, fuck, fuck, yes!"
"What? What happened? Who died?" I ask, kicking Lexis' hand away from trying to tickle my foot.
"No one died- well I probably will, but they released the fucking song!" She exclaims, looking at me with a grin so big, it puts the Cheshire cat to shame. When Alisha sees no one join in with her excitement she groans and carries on, "Perfect! They released that shit! Finally, I swear I've been waiting forever- in reality like a week, but still!"
"Either explain properly, or move out of the damn way, I can't see the TV," Flynn grumbles, trying to look around Alisha's body but failing.
"I don't know why I'm wasting my time with you shits." Alisha flips us all off and skips out the room. "I'm gone you fuckers!" And then the front door slams shut and she's gone.
...
"So what happened to your mum?" I ask Lexis once it's only the two of us. Flynn left a while ago and we were in silence watching a random movie. I had somehow turned around so that my head was on his lap instead of my feet, but he didn't seem to complain so that's how I stayed.
"I didn't know we were friends?" He jokes, twirling strands of my hair around his finger.
"We aren't," I point out. "But we don't have to be friends for you to tell me."
Lexis flickers his eyes down to mine before looking back up to the TV. He shrugs, "I honestly don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know?" I furrow my brows. "How can you not know?"
"One day she decided she didn't want to be a mother and so she left me with her sister when I was only a baby. I don't remember her at all. That's pretty much it."
"What about your dad?"
"My dad," he chuckles dryly, "is not and will never be my dad. To me, he's only ever been nothing but a sperm donor. He left when he found out my mum was pregnant but returned years later, only to find out my mum had left herself. Him, I remember, though all memories were far from pleasant."
"I guess you beat me in the shittiest home life section. Damn it, I really didn't want to have to give up my title," I joke, giving him a half smile though he's not looking at me.
Lexis laughs bitterly and shakes his head. "Keep it."
"Was planning on doing that anyways."
He stops playing with my hair and takes his phone out of his pocket. It buzzes seconds after he does so and Lexis reads the message, his eyes glaring at the wall and his grip on his phone tightening to the point where his knuckles turn white.
"Lexis?" He snaps out of whatever trance he was in and looks down at me. "Squeeze your phone any tighter and it's gonna break."
He nods and places his phone down. "Sorry to disturb, but you're gonna have to get off of me now, Cupcake."
"Don't call me Cupcake you seedless strawberry."
He laughs. "Seedless strawberry?"
I lift my head up off of him and stand up, shrugging my shoulders, "Just go with it."
"Whatever you say, Cupcake."
