It takes all of two seconds for me to laugh internally. And then two more for me to laugh externally.

"What's so funny?" Chase asks, pushing the gun into my back when I come to a stop, hands on my hips, just shaking with laughter.

"Me," is all I say before turning around and grabbing Chase's gun out of his hands, pointing it up at him. Chase, caught off gaurd, raises his hands in surrender and backs away a couple of steps.

Or not. I don't need anyone's help.

"Well damn, princess."

"I have a name, asswipe. And jokes on you for underestimating me," I spit, shifting the gun higher, aiming at his head. "I'm not some maiden in distress waiting to be rescued."

"I can see that," Chase says, dropping his hands. "But you most certainly won't shoot me."

I raise an eyebrow. "Oh? And why is that?"

"I saw how you reacted to my, ah 'accomplice's death. You don't have the stomach to do it."

In retaliation, I aim the gun lower and shoot, hitting my target exactly. Chase yells out in pain and falls to the ground,  clutching his left leg. A smile, "You were saying?"

"You bitch!" He growls. "Just you fucking wait-" He starts but cuts off when I shoot inches away from his head.

"I'm getting tired of hearing your voice," I say and ignore the guilt and nausea that hits me when I see the blood stain through Chase's jeans.

I notice Lexis' phone discarded on the side,  and keeping the gun aimed on Chase, I walk over to it and pick it up.

"Where are the keys to the car?" I ask, stuffing the phone in my pocket. I haven't yet got my drivers licence seeing as I'm still not old enough, but Flynn did use to give me lessons and I know the basics pretty well.

Chase groans out and I shoot the ground again. "Okay, okay," he says, reaching into his pocket and chucking the keys at me. "Are you seriously going to leave me here to bleed out?"

"You have a phone, don't you?" I say, walking to his car and opening the door. "Call one of your accomplices."

"I'll come after you. You do know that, right?" Chase threatens.

Chucking the gun into the passenger seat, I laugh, shrugging, "At least it'll give me a reason to finally kill you."

Slamming the door shut, I blow Chase a kiss and turn the car on, driving out of the damn place. My hands start shaking as the realisation that I just shot a person kicks in.

"Not now," I growl to myself. "Keep it together just a little longer."

...

I pull over when I'm far enough away from the cabin. My brain yells at me to get the fuck out and haul ass, finally free from Lexis and his damn arms that somehow always find a way to be wrapped around my waist, but I feel too exhausted to try.

The phone in my pocket begins to vibrate and I pick it up when Flynn's name flashes up. "Hello?" His voice blares through and I let out the biggest sigh of relief I think I've ever let out.

Getting out of the car, I slam the door shut and start to walk away. "Flynn? Flynn, oh thank fuck. I escaped. I managed to get away but he said he's going to come after me. I took his car and now I'm- fuck I don't know where I am, but-"

Flynn cuts me off, "Faye, calm down. What happened?"

"After the call ended, I grabbed his gun-- because no way in fuck was I going to go with him-- and then he was being his asswipe-y self and I shot him-"

"Wait- you fucking shot him?" He asks incredulously.

"Yes, Flynn keep up," I growl. "As I was saying, I shot him, took his car keys and drove away. He told me he was gonna come after me and I told him at least it'll give me a reason to kill him and I pulled over somewhere-- I have no clue where the fuck I am."

There's silence on the other side before he speaks, "Great at least now we won't have to come rescue you 'cause to be honest I really just want to take a nap- hey, Lexis, she's all good, yeah she's fine. Lost, but fine. Alright hold on- Faye, you're now on speaker, say hello to Lexis!"

"Are you guys going to come get me or what? It's fucking freezing," I grumble, rolling my eyes at a mum who glares at me and tells her kid to walk faster.

"Nice to know you aren't dead, Cupcake. Try and find a road name or something," Lexis says and I nod then realise he can't see that through the phone.

"Alright, hold on," I say, walking closer to the end of the road, looking out for a road name. "Walkley road."

"I know where that is," Flynn chirps. "It'll take about five minutes, Faye."

"Just hurry the fuck up."

"Always so nice," Lexis comments.

"I'm flipping you off in my head," I retort.

"I'd prefer it if you were doing other things to me," he replies and then there's Flynn saying, "Oh no you fucking didn't!" accompanied with what sounds like a slap and then a groan from Lexis.

I laugh, "Thanks, Flynnie!"

"Anytime, cuz!"

"I hate the pair of you," Lexis says and then hangs up. I sit down on the pavement and laugh when there's a small buzz notifying a message.

I don't actually hate you, Cupcake. I couldn't even if I tried to, but your cousin? Hate his guts.
