It takes much longer than five minutes for Lexis' car to turn onto the road. I get up from my spot on the pavement and wave them over.

"Took you long enough," I say, climbing into the backseat.

"I went the fastest I could've gone," Flynn shrugs from the front and then smiles. "Nice to see you alive."

I narrow my eyes, "I'm sure it is. Is that an ice cream in your hand, Flynn?"

"No?" He says, but it comes out like more of a question.

"Did you stop for a damn ice cream?"

"No?"

"Tell that to the ice cream in your hand!"

"In my defence, Lexis was the one who spotted the ice cream truck, so if there's anyone to blame, it's him!"

"Hey!" Lexis speaks up for the first time. "I wasn't the one who stopped the car and went out to get them!"

"And you didn't even freaking get me one," I growl.

"I did, Lexis give it to her-" Flynn starts but stops when we both turn to Lexis, who's holding only one almost-finished ice cream.

He looks up in alarm, "I didn't know it was for her!"

"I can't believe the pair of you," I grumble, crossing my arms over my chest and leaning all the way back, the furthest I can get away from them.

Lexis quickly shoves the rest of the ice cream in his mouth, turns around from the front seat, and since he didn't bother wearing a seat belt, jumps over into the back seat - and also manages to hit me with his shoe in the process, "Sorry!"

I roll my eyes but stay quiet.

"Faye," he whines, drawling out the 'a'. "I'll buy you a new one?" He tries.

"What flavour?" I ask, narrowing my eyes.

"Oh! I know this one," Flynn says from the front.

"Don't tell him."

"Aww," Lexis pouts. "Okay, hold on, let me think." He pulls a face with his tongue peeking out from the side looking like he's in deep concentration. "Chocolate?" He finally answers.

"No," I shake my head, "And you only get three chances. Two more left."

"Shit, okay. Uh, vanilla?"

"Nope."

"How is this fair?" He complains. "There are dozens of different ice cream flavours!"

A shrug, "One more chance left."

"Okay, uh," he squints his eyes up at the car roof in deep concentration. "Cookies and cream?"

My eyes widen, "How in the heck did you guess that?"

He raises his fists in the air, "Yes! Whoop whoop!"

"Let's go get that ice cream then," Flynn says.

I groan, "No."

"No?" He repeats, looking confused.

"I was in the midst of sleeping when someone's phone woke me up, I'm too tired for anything but sleep now."

"Alright, but since you've got Chase on your ass, along with ours, you're going to have to stay with us to keep you safe. More now than ever," Flynn says and Lexis nods.

"I can take care of myself. In case I didn't tell you, I shot him."

"I didn't say you couldn't, and I know you did," Flynn argues, putting on his 'listen to me I am your elder' tone, the one he'd usually use to talk sense into me when I'd want to do something stupid that at the time seemed like a good idea. "But you got lucky then, seeing as it was only Chase."
