(Chapter 5) Part 4: Separation Ep. 1 [To the Labs]

CLANG

A vent cover shook as something impacted in from behind.

CLANG

The cover dented outward as loose pink fur slipped through the gaps.

CLA-DING

CRASH

A pink arm with a yellow hand breaks out and snaps the cover off it's mount, falling to the floor. Grabbing the side, Kissy peeks out and looks around the room, she looks back with a nod and hops down. She step aside as Dogday crawls forward and lands on the ground on all fours, Dan following after him and landing on the canine's back.

"Can't believe we lost her," Dogday says, kneeling down for Dan to hop off him and stand up.

Dan stretches after the long crawl, "I can't believe she ran," he spat, making Kissy look away sadly.

Dogday sighs, "Let's forget about it for now, we need to find everyone."

Kissy nods, "Alright," Dan sighs as he rubs his forehead, "Well, they went down so we need to do the same. We have no idea where they'll be going, the best thing we can do for now is chase after them and hope we reconvene."

Dogday nods, "Good idea." Looking around, Dogday investigates the cavern the vent led them to. It was pretty open, small lights lined the cavern ceiling and stalactites, their orange glow emitting little lumination. There were a few wooden crates stacked about that were either cracked open and empties or were left untouched. In the distance, mounted high up on the wall was a construction sight with an elevator, "There!" he points.

Dan and Kissy look over to the construction sight, "An elevator!" Dan shouts with glee.

Dogday scratches the back of his head, "I know it's under construction but-"

"No no!" Dan interrupts, "It's perfect. If a construction sight has an elevator while working on something else, the elevator is always the first to be accessible. Let's move!"

Dan runs ahead while the two jog to keep up. Upon reaching below the sight, they see a sealed door locked behind an Omni-Hand scanner. Taking a deep breath, Dan fires it to the pad and waits.

"This'll be the last charge before we give it more juice," Dogday warned.

"I know," Dan nods, "let's just hope the elevator doesn't require this hand too." Kissy nods in agreement.

The scan completes and the door opens, immediately releasing a horrid smell that makes Dan gag. He covered his mouth and backed up, his eyes watering at the acrid smell, "Here we go." Swapping to his F.G.H, he walks in, followed by Dogday and Kissy.

The room looks vaguely like a front lobby, but there were construction tools and equipment everywhere, even more wooden crates but these were leaking blood from the seams. Upon looking into one of them, Dan gagged again at the mess of dried blood, bone, and still rotting skin.

He coughs as he moves further into the room, "That's disgusting."

"Thought you would've gotten used to it by now," Dogday says with a tilt of his head.

Dan rolls his eyes and keep moving. The next room was a spiral staircase that had collapsed halfway up, "Great..." he groans. Walking up the steps, the trio try as many doors as they can on the way up, but they were either blocked off by equipment or locked.

Reaching the collapsed steps, Dan looks up and spots a handlebar, "You'll have to climb up, there should be enough stable pieces to jump up." Firing his hand at the handle, he starts reeling himself up.
