The small event that went down at the park happened 2 weeks ago. And since then, Faith, Snoop, Jada, Big, Pac and I have been hanging out everyday.

I was still lowkey jealous of Pac and Jada. But whatever, we were just friends, so it didn't matter. They already act like a couple, why don't they just go ahead and confirm they're dating?

It confused me as to why Tupac said all those nice things to me, if he was really feeling Jada? Maybe I was overthinking it.

I stopped for a second. I didn't wanna get mad all over again. At least, not right now. It was the day before my birthday for Christ's sake!

Right now it was a Saturday evening, and I was picking out my birthday outfit. I wanted tomorrow to be special. I was turning 14!

I pulled out my black Levi's, I only wore my Levi's on special occasion. As well as my retro Jordan 1's in the Chicago color-way. I just didn't know what shirt to wear.

"What are you doin' lil girl?" My dad stepped in my room, puffing a cigarette per usual. I always hated the fact he smoked those smelly cancer sticks.

"Picking out an outfit for tomorrow, daddy." I said, digging through my wooden drawer.

"What's tomorrow? Hmm, I forget..." My dad smiled, earning a grin from me.

"I bet you did forget, and I'm not reminding you either!" I laughed.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but someone's turning 14 tomorrow. I just forget who, hmm..." My dad continued to joke.

"Whatever, daddy!" I giggled.

"Okay, I'm gonna see if I can remember this. I'll leave you alone for now." He said, then left the room.

As I continued to rummage through the dresser, I pulled out a balled up black t shirt. "What is this?" I said to myself. I unraveled the shirt, and I immediately recognized it. It was my Run DMC shirt. Which went perfect with my outfit.

I laid everything out on my bed, the outfit looked great. But there was something missing. I softly gasped and ran to my jewelry chest, and pulled out my plastic tiara I won at a carnival last year.

Now, the outfit was complete.

Just then, I heard the doorbell ring. I didn't get up to get it though, usually my dad would answer it before I do.

After a few rings, I assumed my dad was sleep. Believe it or not, he falls alseep that fast. I guess it comes with age. I ran downstairs to the front door.

"Hold on!" I say as I approach the door. As I padded closer I look to see my best friend, Faith. Opening the screen door I went outside with a smile.

"Hi butter." I said, her smile matching mine.

"Hey girl. Why you ain't got no shoes on?" She asked as she eyed my bare feet.

"You act like I knew it was you at the door at first, hush up." I retorted.

"Whatever. You excited for tomorrow?" She asked as she sat down on the porch step.

"Hecky yeah, I got my outfit picked out and everything." I said, sitting down next to her.

I loved sitting outside in the evening. Compton had a beautiful scenery at this time of day. The sky was painted with a blue/salmon gradient, as the sun began to set.

"Yeah but," Faith picked at my dampened afro, "What's up with this hair?"

I sucked my teeth, "I have leave in conditioner in it right now, fool. I'm gonna leave it in overnight, wash it out in the mornin' and then straighten it. I thought I'd give my hot comb a chance." I said.
