My BestFriend My Teammate and Broken Promises

Chapter 3

                      Tobin's PoV

   Tobin was hanging out with her friends Lauren and Amy when she got a text from Jill saying that they were getting a new teammate and that she was to go pick her up. The plane was landing around 3:00 and it was  1:30 so she had some time. "Hey guys. I've gotta go pick up the new girl so I'll ya guys later"
"Ok. See you later." They said and Tobin left. Tobin went to her room and went to the bathroom to get herself ready. She got another text from Jill. Tobin picked up her phone and looked at the text. It was a picture of the new teammate and her name was Alex Morgan.
   It was around 2:45 when Tobin picked up her car keys and went to the airport. When she got there she went to the baggage claim and waited.
It was around 3:15 when she saw the new girl. She looked nervously around her. So Tobin got up took a deep breath and walked over to her.
"Alex Morgan?" Tobin asked when she got behind her. Alex turned around slowly.
"That's me." She said with a slight smile. Tobin smiled back. She wanted the new girl to be comfortable.
"Awesome! Glad to have you here!" Tobin said grabbing one of her bags."Let's go." Then I turned around and walked towards the exit. I heard her run after me. We went out to the parking lot to my car.
"Sweet car." She said.
"Thanks." I said. I open the trunk and put her bags in there. Then I remembered that I never introduced myself. "Oh by the way my names Tobin Heath, but everyone calls me Tobs or Toberino of whatever. Sorry I forgot to mention that earlier." I said feeling a little guilty.
"Oh that's ok, Toby!" When she said that I shivered. I didn't like that name. I don't care when someone calls me that when their like my closest friend.
"Don't call me Toby, 'lex. Only those closest to me gets to call me that." I say getting a little irritated.
"Well don't call me ,'lex then." She says. Her smile leaving her face. I thought about that. What a way to welcome the new girl. I liked calling her 'lex. So I compromised.
"How about you get to call me Toby if I get to call you 'lex." I say. She pauses for a minute, thinking.
"Deal." She says. Then she smiles and I smile back.
"So, where are we going?" She says.
"We're going to the teams hotel/apartments. You get your own apartment."
"That's cool!"
We pull into the parking lot and we get out. I pop the trunk and we get her bags out. When we get into the hotel she stops and stares at the lobby I let her look around a bit. Then I look at the time.
"Done sightseeing?" I ask her, she snaps backroad reality.
"Ya."
"So what floor do you wanna be on?" After some talking she divides on the 5th floor. The floor with the most teammates, and the floor that I live on. We finish unpacking some time later and now we're sitting on the couch.
"So you wanna go meet the others?" I ask her.
"Sure!" She says, and I lead her out the door to the others rooms. We start with Lauren the work our way to all the other rooms and floors. When we're done I take her back to her room, she tells me that she had fun today and can't wait to start training with the team. I think we're gonna be good friends.

Authors Note: I know this chapter is a little different but I was trying to make a bit shorter so I could get on with the rest of the story. I'll try and make the chapters longer but this takes me awhile to write and I'm so busy.
