My BestFriend My Teammate and Broken Promises

Chapter 4

Alex's PoV

Alex was woken up by her alarm that morning as usual to go for a jog, as she normally would do every morning in California. She got up, turned off her alarm and got ready. A few minutes later, she was ready to rock and roll.

She went out to the parking lot and started jogging up the street. It was a quiet street if you can believe that exists in New York.

She had been running for about 30 minutes when she came across a coffee shop. She decided to get some coffee before heading back. She got a chocolate mocha.

When she got back she showered and got ready for the day. She was watching ESPN when there came a knock on the door. She turned off the TV and opened the door. It was Tobin.

"Good morning, sunshine." She says smiling."How was the first night here?"

"It was pretty good, it'll take some time to get used to but it's great being here. This morning I went for a run and I got to see some of the city and have the most amazing coffee." I say, leading her to the living room. We sit down and we talk for a few hours talking about our lives and our dreams of life after we retire. To soon though it was time for a team lunch.

"I really enjoyed talking to you. Maybe we could do it again sometime?" Tobin asks, starting to head towards the door.

"Ya! Of course. I had fun talking to you as well." I respond smiling. We head down the hall to the elevator. They go into the team eating area. Most of the team was there, but there a few stragglers still coming in.

Alex and Tobin get their lunch and sit down next to each other. When Alex sits down Kelley O'hara comes and sits down next to her.

"Hi!" She says sitting down to my right. "I'm, Kelley, if you don't remember me." Oh I remember her. She's one of the only teammates to give me a hug so I feel comfortable with her more than the others.

"I remember you," I say.

"Well I don't know how you could forget me, I mean look at me!" She points to herself and laughs." I joking. So how was it?"

"How was what?" I ask, confused.

"Your first day and night here."

"Oh! It was great. I think I'm gonna like it here." I say smiling.

"Good." She smiles and laughs. We eat breakfast. Then the team goes out for a walk and to hang out till lunch. Alex takes Lauren, Amy, Kelley, and Tobin out to the coffee shop she found that morning. They all love and can't wait to come back.

We had lunch then went to a team meeting. We all had been sitting there waiting for the coaches to come in. They come in and the meeting starts.

"Ok. So, in a few days training starts," Jill says and I hear a few groans."We have our first friendly in a month against England and then another in a week after that against China. Then after a few months after that, we go to Canada!" Whoops and yells fill the room. Then our health/trainer coach, Dawn, stood up.

"All, so all of you need to be getting some good rest and make sure you are eating right. We need you guys fit and ready ready for training and the World Cup. If you have any recovery questions come to me or ask Carli." After she said that a few quiet laughs were heard. They were trying to hide the laughs but Carli still heard them.
