Chapter 6

Alex's PoV

The doctor takes my wrap off and clears me to start doing normal workouts and games, but I still have to take it easy.

Tobin and I head out to the waiting, where now the whole team is there waiting for us. They all take turns giving me a hug. Tobin and I go out to her car and we drive back to the hotel.

When we get there, Abby tells me I have to go see the coaches. I say goodbye to Tobin and I go to the coaches offices. I see Dawn and Jill so I go over to them.

"Hello Alex. What did the doctor say?" Dawn asks me.

"He says that I'm in perfect health and my foot is ready to start practicing again. But I need to take it easy so I don't hurt it again." The coaches nod their heads and dismiss me.

We have the rest of the day off then tomorrow is practice. I head back to my room. When I get there I see Tobin sitting on the couch.

"Well hello there stranger." I say smiling. She jumps. She apparently didn't hear me come in. I laugh.

"It's not funny!" She shouts at me but she's laughing too. Then I go and sit in the couch beside her. We sit there in silence watching TV. Then Tobin spoke.

"So, since you haven't been out on the field for a while, I was wondering if you wanted to go get some practice?"

"Sure! Let's go!" I hop up and grab my cleats, Tobin does the same. We're walking towards the stadium when when Tobin says she forgot something. I watch her run back to the hotel. I turn back around and I run into someone.

She falls down. "Oh I'm sorry about that. I wasn't watching where I was going." I look up and I see a man holding out his hand. I take it and he helps me stand up.

"I'm Servando. What's your name?" He seems so nice, I think, he's kinda cute too.

"I'm Alex. Alex Morgan"

"Wel nice to meet you Alex Morgan," he smiles. "Can I take you out on a date sometime?" He asks.

"Where do you plan on taking me?" I ask him.

"It's a surprise." He grins. I grin back.

"Well you just got yourself a date." I say to him and he smiles the biggest smile ever. We switch phones and put our numbers in them. We switch them back and he gives me a kiss on the cheek. And with that he continues down the street.

I'm must have spaces off cause next thing I know is Tobin waving her hands in my face.

"Hello? Alex, you in there?" She says.

"Ya I'm here just spaced off for a minute." She chuckles and walks off toward the field. I run to catch up with her.

We walk to the players entrance and show the security our player ID's and we continue walking towards the field. When we walk into the locker room I felt so happy. I hadn't been in here for awhile.

We put on our cleats and head out to the field. We do a little warm up before we get started. We played around a bit before we started playing a little 1v1.

Tobin got ahead of me a little so I chased her. Going as fast as I could. I finally pull ahead of her and I'm now in the perfect position to slide and tackle.
She went for it.

She slid and hit the ball away from Tobin. But Tobin tripped over Alex's feet. She fell. I laughed at my triumph then I realised that Tobin wasn't getting up. She was holding her ankle, rocking back and forth on her back.

"Oh my goodness! Tobin are you okay?" I ask her, running over to her to see if she was okay. She looked like her body was shaking from crying but then I realised that she was laughing. I hit her in the arm. "Tobin Powell Heath!" I yell at her standing back up. "You scared me! I thought you were really hurt" I say. I'm starting to get a bit irritated.

"I'm sorry 'lex." Tobin says trying to keep a straight face. I can't help it. I feel myself start to smile to. And before I know it I'm laughing along with Tobin. Then her face straightens.

"Who was that guy you talking to?" She asks me.

"Oh just some guy I ran into. He asked me out on a date!" I say, excited. She smiles.

"Really?" Tobin asks me, I can hear the excitement in her voice. "I'm so happy for you!" She hugs me. "Last on the showers is a rotten egg!" She shouts at me and takes off.

"Hey! No fair!" As I'm running I can't but help but laugh at Tobin's childish behaviour. She of course beats me. Only because she got a head start.

We shower then head back to the hotel. The team is waiting for us in the eating hall when we arrive.

"Well looked who showed up for dinner." Says Jill.

"I'm sorry," I say feeling guilty. "We went out to the field and lost track of time."

Jill nods her head. "How's you ankle?"

I'd forgotten about my ankle. "It's fine I don't feel a thing." I say and she nods her head in approval. I grab some food and go sit down next to Kelley, and I tell her about me meeting Servando.

"When's the date?" Kelley asks me.

"I don't know. He said it was a surprise and wouldn't tell me when. So I'm just gonna wait."

We all finish supper and we all head off in our own directions. I head to my room to get to bed early cause tomorrow was gonna be a full day. I decide to text Servando.

Alex: Hey handsome :)
Serv: Hey beautiful
Alex: So when's the date?
Serv: What day works for you?
Alex: Umm. How about this Thursday
Serv: Works for me. How about I meet you at 7:00?
Alex: Works for me!
Serv: Where do I pick you up at?
Alex: At the USWNT's hotel in New York. It's on the same street that you bumped into me :) I'll be outside waiting.
Serv: Okay. I gtg. Goodnight babe.
Alex: Goodnight
