My Future Mornings

Good morning he says
As he hugs my shoulders tight
How did you sleep?
Did you have a good night?

Yes I did honey
What about you?
Did you see the note I left?
With your cup of coffee too?

The coffee was delicious
The note was really sweet
I love you darling
You're the best person anyone could meet

Lucy is up stairs
Waiting for you to wake her up
She's pretending to be asleep
But she will want her princess cup

Okay I shall go get her
Since she wants me now
When you tucked her in last night
Did you give her Mr. Cow?

Yes darling I did
Emma is waiting for you too
They always want mommy
They must really love you

Honey I swear they'll love you soon
It just takes time to get used to
That's what the social service woman said
One day they'll say they really love you

Whatever you say
Just go get our girls
Ill make them waffles
Their favorite in the world

I kissed him on the cheek
Then went to walk upstairs
Went into Emma's room
As she brushed her hair

Mommy Lucy is still sleeping
Emma says with a wink
Then she whispers in my ear
"That's what she wants you to think"

I tiptoed into Lucy's room
I gently rest my hand on her face
She then pops up quick
"Let's have a race"

She jumps out of bed
She runs down the stairs
Emma behind her
Her brush stuck in her hair

Honey they're coming
I shout from above
I then go down the stairs too
To eat with my family I love
