Learning Feminism

"It's not important"
You says with a shrug of your shoulders
It's as if you are throwing rocks a my heart
Basically huge boulders

It crushes me inside
The lack of knowledge and concern
Equality for all
Is something we must learn

But it takes a lot
To drill this into your heads
It's a lack of understanding
But your thought process is not dead

Because you are capable of thinking
As you tell me feminism is dumb
You just are thinking the wrong way
That is until you know someone

Maybe just maybe
You will understand
That feminism is needed
When your daughter is on the stand

Because that night at that party
Her shirt was low cut
So that dumb boy thought he had the right
To try and push his luck

So he held her hand too tight
Then he kissed her on the cheek
But things had escalated
Then her legs felt weak

And now she's in the court room
And you are watching her tremble in fear
Maybe you would have understood feminism
If you had stopped talking long enough to hear

Let's not forget though
That feminism means equality for all
Not just girls
But for boys, big and small

So when you are standing in the office
Of your son's high school
And he's holding an ice pack to his eye
Because God kids can be cruel

He got upset in the classroom
He had began to cry
So some kids pulled him aside after
They beat him up, wanting him to die

Because society has stated
That boys can not feel
Anything but anger
But this is not real

Will you understand then
That feminism is good
That it means equality
Intelligent people would

But even then
If you still do not comprehend
There is still a chance
Your hope is not at its end

You are now a husband
Your wife of four years sits you down
She tells you of her childhood
In tears she almost drowns

She was raped
She was abused
She was hurt
She was used

And she tells you that she was a feminist
And then you remember that girl you knew
Back in high school
The one who told you

She told you that feminism mattered
She told you that it's something you need
But you just did my listen
You had your "macho" ego to feed

But wait there's more
Because remember feminism is for boys too
Because maybe you have a husband
Who was hurt badly unlike you

He had been hit by his mother
Yes, by mother I mean female
She abused him every day
He had let out a wail

It was a cry for help
But no one listened to him
Because he was a 17 year old boy
How could he be hit by a woman?

Do you see now?
What society did?
It turned on a child
It ignored a helpless kid

Because he was a boy
So he should have been strong
But God damn it society
You are so so wrong

Feminism means equality
So teach boys not to rape
Feminism means equality
So teach girls they can wear a cape

Feminism means equality
So teach boys it is okay to feel
Feminism means equality
So teach girls abused males are real

Boys can be raped
Girls can be too
This is what feminism
Has been trying to tell you

It does not mean girls hate boys
But this is the last call
So please please understand
Feminism means equality for ALL
