Later that night Mom invited Seth in for dinner and he gladly accepted. Mom prepared spaghetti and garlic bread, Dad made his county famous meat balls, and I decided to add some vegetables so I threw together a quick Italian salad. Everyone dug in, this time I held Bailey in my lap as I ate, watching Seth with careful eyes as he talked with my family.

"So where are you from?" Mom asked, and Seth wiped his mouth with his napkin before answering,

"I lived in Florida for the last ten years."

"Well what brings you to this town then?" Dad asked, taking a sip of his beer.

"My grandparents live here."

"Have you ever worked with horses before?" I asked, and everyone glanced at me, then back at Seth.

"Actually, I used to work at one of the race tracks down in Miami. So I'm already used to the hours." Jackie grinned,

"Well, these aren't stallions anymore." Zach laughed and stood up, gathering everyone's plates when they were finished, kissing my mom's head,

"Thanks for dinner Mom." He started on the dinner  dishes and I stood up, going over to the counter and getting out some of the baked goods from the store today. Jackie stood and began to dry the dishes and the two of them whispered amongst each other. I rolled my eyes and kissed Bailey's head, feeding her her night time bottle.

"What's her name?" Seth asked, taking a bite of one of the brownies.

"Her name is Bailey," I said quietly, reaching to stroke Bailey's face softly as she ate. Jackie and Zach made their way over to the table and sat down, helping themselves to the baked goods. Everyone made some more small talk before Seth excused himself and left, and Jackie and Zach looked at the time,

"Well, we're going to his house tonight... We'll be back in the morning." She said, standing up with Zach. The two gave everyone a hug, Bailey a kiss on her head, before leaving in his truck. Mom and Dad had a silent conversation with each other before Dad stood up and went into the den to start a fire and Mom looked at me,

"You'll find someone one day honey." She said along with placing her hand over mine and squeezing tightly.

"Yeah right," I mumbled sadly, but I was glad she didn't bring up my ex-boyfriend.
