I quickly picked up the phone and called Nick who picked up almost immediately.
"If you're calling about the fist fight I'm on my way, I'll be there in under a minute okay?"
"Hurry Nick." I said simply and walked over to the door but stayed away from trying to break it up, especially with a baby attached to me. Nick's pick up rolled up and he slammed it into park before pulling the two of them apart along with another middle aged man named Eric.
"What's the meaning of this?" Nick asked, holding Seth with his arms behind his back. Seth jerked and Noah spit at him,
"Hey!" Eric said, jerking Noah forward,
"Answer my god damn question. What the hell is going on here?" Neither of the men said anything so Nick shook his head,
"You're both under arrest for disturbing the peace." He continued to say their rights as he put the handcuffs on and put both of them in the back seat of his truck.
"They were fighting over a girl," Eric said, rubbing his hands together.
"A girl? What happened?"
"The tall blonde one was walking into the bakery with those," He said, nodding to a bouquet of flowers on the ground, "And Noah asked what they were for. The guy said Charlie's name and Noah punched him. Tall blonde guy held his own though."
Nick sighed and looked at the others sitting at the tables around the bakery, "Is this true?"
Everyone nodded and Nick went to the truck and took the handcuffs off of Seth and let him go. Seth rubbed his wrists and Noah looked at Nick angrily,
"What the hell?" He exclaimed and Nick rolled his eyes,
"Don't start with me punk. Seth was acting in self-defense." Nick looked at Seth,
"I'm sorry." Seth shrugged,
"You're a cop. At least you waited to hear the whole story. That didn't happen very often before."
"Oh yeah? Where're ya from?"
"Miami. Just moved back in with my grandparents about a month ago."
"Welcome." Seth smirked and Nick looked over at me,
"Take it easy Char. Call If you need anything." I nodded and looked at Seth,
"Do you want some ice for your nose?" He looked around before nodding, so I led him inside and to the back room, getting some ice out of the employee fridge. He sat on one of the couches and leaned his head back to stop the bleeding.
"How do you know him?"
"Nick?" Seth nodded, "He's one of Zach's older brothers. Before he and Jackie got together we were inseparable."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah... But Jackie loves him in a completely different way than I do. She's everything to him and him to her. I don't mind sharing if it means both my best friends can find love and happiness."
Seth smiled, "You really are a decent person." I went wide eyed and laughed a little,
"What the heck does that mean?"
"Some of the things Noah said about you didn't seem very nice."
I rolled my eyes, "That's because I was a bitch to him after we broke up because I didn't want to see him."
Seth grinned and put the ice on his nose, "How come you're out of work so early?" I asked and he smiled,
"Showed up early and got the work done earlier than usual. Jackie let me go." I smiled and Seth shrugged,
"I had flowers for you but they're a little trampled now. I'll find you some new ones."
"Seth... Why did you get me flowers?"
He was quiet for a few minutes and while he was thinking it over my heart started to race.
"I just wanted to apologize for being a jerk to you..."
I nodded and took Bailey out of the carrier to give my shoulders a break. I sat beside Seth on the couch, holding Bailey in my arms.
"You know, you look pretty good holding a baby." Seth said smirking. I laughed lightly,
"Would you like to hold her?"
"Oh uh..." I smirked,
"Come on... It's not that hard." I said, helping him move his arms so that he could properly support Bailey's head. I placed her in his arms and watched as his smile grew into a grin,
"She's beautiful," He said softly, and I smiled,
"She's my everything." Seth held her for longer than five minutes. We didn't say much but I just watched him and reminded him to support her head every so often. Damn, did he look good with a baby in his arms.
"Are you heading home?" He asked and I nodded,
"Hannah said she'd cover me today and I think one of the newer girls is coming in to help today. Did you.. Want to stay for dinner?"
"I'd love too." He said, carefully handing me Bailey and standing up. I walked to the front with him and Hannah smiled,
"You heading out now?"She asked and I nodded, packing away some doughnuts and some cupcakes.
"Yes, I've got a family dinner tonight. But I'll see you tomorrow okay?" Hannah nodded and smiled,
"Enjoy!"
Seth walked me to my truck and told me he'd meet me back at my place, he was going to go home and freshen up a bit before the dinner so he didn't smell like horse... well horse crap.
When I got home Jackie was in a nice dress and sitting on the front porch in Zach's arms, all of our dogs sprawled on the floor. I smiled and waved and Jackie got up and hugged me once I was on the porch,
"I'm real sorry for what I did last night Char... I had way too much to drink." I laughed and hugged her tightly, putting Bailey's carrier on the ground.
"Yeah you did. But did you at least have fun? You and Zach work too hard so I'm glad the both of you finally got a break to have fun."
She nodded and grinned, and I went inside and smiled at my parents, aunt, and uncle. I sat with them in the living room with Bailey's bottle and just listened to them talk until Seth showed up with another bouquet, knocking on the front door.
The picture above is of Seth when he knocks on the front door! Read and review!
