Chapter 16

That night Seth set the table while I fed Bailey. I decided to make Chicken Parmesan and since Seth loved to cook he helped a lot, and made a Vodka sauce to go with the noodles. Jackie said she was going to bring fresh bread and made garlic bread once she got here, and she was also bringing a bottle of wine. Hannah called to say she was going to try a new recipe and she would bring a salad as well. There was still half an hour until everyone would show up and once Bailey was done eating I went upstairs to get changed. I decided on wearing a dress, it was teal with flowers on it. I decided to use a belt to help it shape my form instead of letting it hang. Seth came upstairs and changed into a pair of light jeans, a plain white teeshirt and plaid. I rolled my eyes playfully and he winked at me, buttoning it up. I heard the lock turn downstairs and Jackie and Zach came in,

"Helloo!" Jackie called, and we both went down, Seth carrying Bailey. Zach started to laugh when he realized that he and Seth were dressed the exact same.

Seth shrugged, "What can I say? I like the style."

We laughed and Jackie took Bailey from Seth, bringing her into the playroom.

"We don't know the gender yet but we've already started shopping with gender neutral colours, Jackie and I started to look at cribs and changing tables. So far we've found a black one and a white one, both with the same safety ratings, the only difference is price."

"Are you guys going to find out the gender or leave it as a surprise?"

Jackie came back in, holding Bailey and one of her favorite toys, "We wanted to talk to you about that acutally. We want to do a gender reveal party, so we were thinking at the next appointment you could come with us and take the doctor out and ask her so we don't know."

I nodded, "Of course guys. I would love too."

"We can discuss the details later but I just wanted to see if you were on board with it." I lead them into the kitchen and Zach handed me the bottle of wine, which I opened and started to pour into glasses for myself and Zach, Seth shook his head when I offered him one and instead got a beer from the fridge.

The door bell rang and my dog barked, and I went to open the door and I saw Hannah there, she was holding a casserole dish that had a cover over top and a big bowl on top. She was holding a reusable grocery bag and by the looks of it, it had salad dressing and other toppings inside.

Adam was still using his cane but he was holding Simon's hand, and Simon grinned when he saw me,

"Hi Charlie!" He said excitedly, and he handed me a picture that he drew. It was beautifully drawn, a sunset with Adam, Hannah, and him.

"It's beautiful Simon!" I said, leaning down and kissing his head, "Thank you!"

He giggled and Seth walked out, smiling at Simon and handing him a juice box, "Why don't you go check out the games room? Maybe me and your dad and Zach could play a couple games or something?" Simon nodded excitedly and followed Seth and Zach to the games room and I looked at Adam,

"Could I get you a beer or a glass of wine?"

He glanced at Hannah and she smiled, and he nodded, "I'll take a beer please." I nodded and went to get him one and Hannah shook her head when I offered her a glass and smiled, "I'm driving home tonight." I nodded, respecting that.

Adam walked into the games room and I brought the girls into the family room and turned the fire place on and we each took a seat, I sat in the chair, resting Bailey against my chest as she drowsily looked around, and Jackie and Hannah each took a side of the couch.

"How's everything been so far?" I asked Hannah and she shrugged,

"For the most part good, he just wakes up with night terrors a lot though. Some nights he wakes up screaming and it scares Simon... But he's going to see a therapist in Mapleville in two days so I hope that will start to help." Jackie and I nodded and we chatted about anything and everything, including private times. Jackie was laughing by the end of it and Hannah was scowling.

The timer went off and I went to put the cheese on the chicken, and Seth came in, wrapping his arms around my waist, kissing my head softly, "How's it going baby?" He asked softly and I smiled,

"Pretty good, how's it going with the boys?"

"Great, Simon and Adam are having a lot of fun playing on the Wii, although he's taking it pretty easy." I nodded and leaned back into his embrace,

"Make sure he does okay?" Seth nodded and hugged me tighter, and I turned around, glancing to make sure no one was watching and I kissed him. He grinned and kissed me back eagerly and Jackie walked in,

"Woah woah woah, save that for the bedroom children." She said, grinning. I rolled my eyes,

"Dinner will be ready in five minutes."

"Alright perfect. I've been looking forward for this for two days."

I laughed and started to put dinner on the table.
