2 Years Post-Capture
(Basically one year after the last chapter)

Two years. Two years since Maria had been captured, and Ciel was getting frustrated. Month after month, now year after year, he couldn't take it.

"Dammit!" He slammed a fist down on the table he was standing next to. Papers littered the surface, all clues that ended up coming to nothing.

Sebastian flipped a different paper over and read the back, ignoring his master's anger tantrum. They both knew that getting angry wouldn't solve anything.

"We need to do something different." Ciel's voice was colder than than ice. He continued, "Looking at papers is getting us nowhere."

Sebastian finally glanced at him. Over the past two years their relationship had changed from master-servant to amicable partners solving a case. Sebastian wasn't sure if he liked it or not when Ciel insisted he be treated equal to Sebastian now that he was a demon. After all, Ciel only made him promise to stay by his side, he didn't necessarily have to be a butler. He supposed he would take it slow, and slowly do less and less for the young demon. Maybe one day Ciel would release him from his promise.

"What do you suppose we do, then?" Sebastian grabbed a different paper, reading it but not really reading it. He had read through all these papers already anyway, all were pointless.

"We get ourselves a Fallen who can tell us where their King lives."

"Maria. Maria? Mariaaa."

The said person slowly opened her eyes. She had fallen asleep on the grass outside while watching the clouds. That was about all that was to be done around here, besides her lessons and reading. Her immortal life was being wasted.

"What? What time is it?" She stretched and yawned as she spoke, her question coming out as wa ime ih ith.

"Almost dinner time. You've been asleep for a few hours." Zeke informed her, his shadow blocking the sun.

She sat up, then stood up, not caring how wrinkled her dress was. Samuel seemed to like mundane tasks like ironing, she had might as well give him something to do.

Zeke offered her his arm with a boyish grin, and she took it, hopefully sending a silent screw you to the ever-jealous Castizel.

Another year, another waste. All that had changed was Castizel, who just grew more jealous as the day passed. She felt like a toy that a toddler wouldn't share.

And her need to get out! She had memorized every inch of the manor last year, and spending the days aimlessly wandering the memorized halls was not a way she wanted to spend her immortal days.

She spent her days eating and training, training for what she didn't even know what for.

Zeke was her near-constant companion, much to Castizel's disgust. She was thankful for him, he was the one keeping her sane.

She couldn't take it any longer. She was going to leave. Castizel and the Trinity were quick, not to mention Castizel would probably know where she was, but she would at least have a small taste of freedom. One small taste before they captured her again.

Even though Castizel could sense her thoughts, her feelings of longing and anger just under the surface had kept him away. He hadn't talked to her for the last 2 days.

If I could just find a way out...

After supper she escaped Zeke's friendly clutches and headed for the library. She had spotted a manor map a few days ago, and since nobody else came into the library really she had set up her own personal project of studying the maps for an escape route.
