Maria found herself to be growing increasingly hungry as the hours passed. She was locked in a bedroom that had no windows, and yet she felt William's eyes on her at all times. She paced back and forth from the locked door to the opposite wall, deep in thought. Trying to break down the door hadn't done anything.
"William! I'm hungry!" She yelled at the ceiling, knowing he would be able to hear her. A few minutes later the door opened and William entered, bearing only a bottle of her "medicine" in one hand.
"I said I was hungry, not sick."
"Oh, but I know that you aren't hungry for human food." William set the bottle down on the bedside table as Maria moved over to look at herself in the standing mirror in the corner of the room. She was troubled to realize that he was right. She didn't want human food. She caught a glance of the door with the mirror. It was open.
Smiling a little, she watched her reflection as her eyes turned pink. She twirled around...
And ran.
She blurred past William and just as she thought she was home free the full demon grabbed her wrist and spun her around into a dance move, bowing her low until her head almost touched the ground. They were a few yards from the bed, and he threw her onto it before jumping to land over her. He hovered over her body as a threatening look grew in his eyes.
"William! Get off of me!" Maria twisted a little, but she was pinned. William only smiled, but the threat was clear in his next words.
"I suggest you not do that again, Maria, or your punishment," he leaned forward until his mouth was right next to her ear. "will be more physically severe. Understand?"
Maria nodded, absolutely terrified. She was reminded once again that he wasn't her contracted servant anymore. He was a free demon, who could do what he wanted to who he wanted.
Suddenly there was a short rush of air to the half-demon girl's face and William was gone, the door shutting behind him. He had moved so fast that even she as a half demon hadn't seen it coming.
Maria looked over at the mirror again to see the pink fade from her eyes. She didn't move until she heard the door click as it was locked. The click sounded like a final statement, reminding her that she could never escape.
She swore quietly to herself before sitting up on the bed. She felt very violated and disgusting now, and even more so by the fact that she hungered for the bottle of "medicine" on the bedside table.
I need to get out of here, and fast.
-----------------------------
I need to find her, and fast. Sebastian thought determinedly to himself. He had once again checked the entire area; and, knowing how untameable the Queen's Kitten was, it was likely now that William wouldn't move her at all until she transformed. There was still a chance he could find her before she transformed.
He ran through the town again as Ciel stayed at the Undertaker's, the Earl pressing him for information as to where Maria might be.
Suddenly he caught the presence of a demon, and somehow he knew instantly that it was William. Using this locating device of sorts he was able to quickly locate the other demon in the crowd and watched as he mounted a horse and rode out of town. Sebastian decided to follow, but at a distance so that he hopefully wouldn't be recognized by the other demon.
He trailed William all the way into the woods, deep in the darkest parts of the thick trees. There he saw the abandoned house that William was holding Maria in, because by now he could sense Maria.
Secretly rejoicing, he went to hurry back to the Earl to fill him in on what was happening. He would get Ciel back to the manor quickly so that he was safe before going to retrieve Maria. Then he would help her undergo the transformation, hopefully.
---------------------------------
The bottle of medicine was getting more and more tempting as it sat there innocently on the bedside table. Maria lay on the other side of the bed, as far from it as possible. She felt the need to go closer, to drink the rest, but she quietly fought against that urge.
She jumped when William suddenly entered the room, slamming it shut behind him. He turned to look at her, that crazed look entered his eyes again.
"Drink it. Drink it right now." He pulled out a gun and pointed it at her, and her eyes widened in shock. This was too unexpected. Her heart raced in her chest.
"Drink it or I'll shoot you."
"You wouldn't dare. You need me."
"Correction: I need Lyra. I could care less about you. If you die right now I could force the soul concoction down your throat, and you'll transform! It should work..." He began to pace back and forth, but the gun never left it's aim from Maria.
"Why so sudden? Why now?"
"He's found us! If you are turned to Lyra right now, he'll have to give up."
"I doubt it."
"Shut up and drink!"
"No."
"Do it or I will force you to."
"Go ahead. Make me." She challenged, sitting up tall and crossing her arms over her chest. William's eyes glowed pink in anger. He crossed the room in an instant and slapped her full across the cheek. She cried out in shock, pain, and anger all at once and glared balefully at him.
"You're gonna have to try harder than that."
With a strangled scream of anger William grabbed her leg and dragged her across the bed, closer to the concoction of souls. He grabbed the bottle with one hand and held Maria down with the other.
Then his hand moved to her throat, and all air was cut off. Immediately she was gasping for breath, and as soon as he mouth opened William shoved the bottle opening into her mouth, pouring the sweet liquid into her mouth.
Maria's struggles slowly died as she started to drink, addicted to the sweet potion.
"That's it." William cooed, suddenly happy, as he started to stroke her hair.
Maria's insides were at war. One part said that if she finished drinking this, she would become a demon. The other said the drink was too tasty to pass up.
The demon side won.
Maria grabbed the bottle from William and kept drinking until she drained it dry. As soon as she drank the last drop she felt dizzy as the new powers rushed through her.
"Now sleep, my lovely Lyra." William spoke softly, and Maria barely heard him as she slowly slipped into unconsciousness.
