Maria's eyes slowly opened as she drowsily looked around the unfamiliar room she was in. When had she been brought here? Where was "here"?
Then last nights events resurfaced to her thoughts.
"Sebastian!" She called, already feeling her anger rise towards him. She was secretly thankful that he had stopped her, but she wasn't going to admit that until after she yelled at him for knocking her unconscious like that.
"Oh, you're awake."
That. Was. Not. Sebastian.
"William? What- no, How did I end up here? Where is here? What happened last night?" She demanded answers.
William laughed a little as he told her the story. "Mr. Michealis knocked you out, dear. He had the intentions to kill you, since your newfound demon powers could injure his meal, or should I say Earl Phantomhive..."
"Sebastian would not kill me!" She wasn't going to believe him, hopefully, but the seed of doubt was already planted.
"Are you sure? You almost killed a man yesterday, why not go after the Earl next? It was probably more convenient to... dispose of you."
"So, how did I end up here? This place is?"
"I stopped Mr. Michealis just in time, m'lady. I told him I would take you off his hands, but other than that he was about ready to slit your throat."
"You're lying."
"Am I?"
A momentary pause. "Yes, you are."
"Believe what you want, I hope you will soon come to your senses Lady Lyra."
"That's not my name. Why do you even keep calling me that?"
"Isn't it obvious? You are obviously the reincarnation of Milady Lyra Elrose." He pulled out a picture from his suit and showed it to her. It was the splitting image of her, only slightly older, a woman maybe in her early 20s.
"Lyra... Elrose? I was related to her?"
"She's your grandmother. She's been living inside of you, ready for you to eat your first soul and develop into a full demon. During the transition she will take over your body and awaken to be my lovely demon companion."
"You're delusional."
"Maybe so, Maria; but, either way your body will undergo the transformation, whether Lyra returns to me or not."
"Sebastian will never let that happen." William shook his head with a small smile at her words. Maria decided to change the course of the conversation.
"Where are we?"
"Somewhere safe." Maria scowled at the answer. She tried again.
"When will this 'transformation' occur?"
"When you eat your first soul, as I said before."
He was being infuriatingly difficult.
"So, you've been hanging around my family for generations, all because of this Lyra woman?"
"Yes. I offered your mother my services but she refused. Then she died."
"Sebastian will come for me."
"I sincerely doubt it, Maria."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There had been no threat to Ciel at all. William had lied so well that Sebastian had believed him. He had arrived at the manor faster than humanly possible only to find Ciel safe and sound. Upon finding out what had happened, Ciel was furious.
"Find her right now! I don't care what it takes or how many people die! That's an order!" He stomped his feet like a little child and yelled as loud as he could. All Sebastian could do was comply.
"Yes, my Lord."
Now he was inspecting anything he could, which was mostly going house to house and searching them without the owner even knowing. William couldn't have taken Maria very far, he would find them quickly before William had time to move the lady.
After he had gone through the whole town with absolutely nothing showing up he went out to the countryside to look through the bigger houses owned by the richer people of the area.
Eventually he returned home empty handed, where Ciel was waiting for him.
"Well?" He questioned as soon as he saw his butler.
Sebastian slowly shook his head, and Ciel closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair, his untouched tea sitting on the table before him. Anyone - human or demon - could literally see the worry rolling off of him in waves. Sebastian himself felt a twinge of... something.
"I will find her, my Lord." He bowed deeply as Ciel responded.
"You had better, I ordered you to."
