RESCUE - Part 2

Chapter 10 - the proposal

We had helped summer build up her cocktail business all that was left to do was to decorate, we thought we'd save her some money and do it for free, she had decided on rich colours, dark reds, blues....I was in the middle of my wall when mouse bumped into me, with his blue brush "hey! This wall is red!" "Isn't now...its blue!" "Mouse! Summer said this had to be- OH MY GOD! MICHAEL!" He stood there smugly holding his paintbrush after painting my mouth "you twat!" I lurched forward catching his mouth with my red brush "Charlie!" He shrieked as we stood looking at each other "apologise!" I looked at him "I will when you do!" He frowned at me "fine! Sorry I painted your mouth red..." "I'm sorry I painted yours blue..." I looked at him biting my blue lip "wanna make purple?" He looked up from the floor and smirked stepping closer to me he crushed his lips to mine, pulling my face in closer "OH MY GOD!" Summer ran over, mouse pulled away leaving me longing for more stood on my tiptoes "what? We were just kissing!" I looked at summer "no I don't care about that...that purple....I want that purple! On all walls! It'll match that dark coloured wallpaper with the gold on it!" She clapped her hands excitedly and disappeared, mouse looked at me "we're gonna need more than mouths to mix all that paint" he wiggled his eyebrows "okay that's gross" Alex shuddered as he walked past and grabbed a big bowl pouring both cans of paint in it "spoil sport" mouse flicked his ear and grabbed his brush beginning to paint the wall again.

It was complete, and it looked amazing, with fancy table and chairs dotted around, a dance floor, a large chandelier in the centre, the square bar in the middle, that lit up, just enough, to give a calming atmosphere, the gold with the purple looked amazing, and she was ready to open the next day "my god mum we've done it!" "You've done it sweetie!" I pulled her into a hug and squeezed tightly, she then came up to my ear "are we still doing the plan?" "Yes we are!" I nodded at her as we grabbed our bags, Alex had gone, he had to prepare himself for the theatre, we went home, but I took a detour to Carrie's house, "hey Hun!" I smiled as she stood in the door "ooh you're the woman I wanted to see!!" She stepped aside and let me in, she made me a cuppa and sat down beside me "Charlie...my dad wants to learn how to surf, and the lessons can be pretty expensive I was wondering if-" her phone Suddenly started to ring, it was a song I knew well, crazy love by Jason manns and Jensen Ackles, both still great friends she took the call and ended it once she'd finished "not heard that song in a while!" I chuckled as I finished the drink "it's my absolute favourite!" She looked at me excitedly, my stomach dropped, that wasn't the song Alex told me, that wasn't the song we had recorded...shit...

We continued to chat for a bit about it "I was actually there when they recorded it" "oh my god really! I bet that was amazing!" She clapped her hands, I clocked the time and needed to go "so I just came over to give you your tickets and what did you want to ask me?" "My dad wants to surf and we know they can be a bit pricey the les-" "I'll do it for free!!" "Well we thought we could pay you something or give you-" "nope! I don't want anything! I'd be thrilled to teach him, right I really need to go, or I'm going to get shouted at by my husband" we both stood up, she hugged me tightly "thank you so so much! See you later!" We both hugged again as I drove home I couldn't get a hold of Alex, so I did the next best thing....I rang Jensen...

On the way to the theatre, we were talking about nicknames, "I mean, the lifeguard names I just don't get! But like, names like William you get will, or Tom from Thomas...but how the hell do you get dick from Richard?" Mouse looked at me "you ask him nicely!" I grinned at my own answer as I tried to hide my hysterical laughter as I drove, the car went silent which made me burst into giggles "I'm sorry that was too easy!" I wiped my eye ask looked at mouse's unamused face which made me laugh harder, my stomach was hurting "oh come on that was funny as hell!......no...didn't tickle you slightly?....okay well we are here so come on" I parked the car up and walked hand in hand with mouse into the theatre to see the lion king, one of mine and carries favourites, they were already sat inside waiting for us.

We sat in our seats as the lights dimmed, Jensen was sat on my left, mouse on my right...I was in a hottie sandwich! The lights went out as the music began, and it was incredible as always, when it came to the interval I got up, dragged Jensen and alex with me "hey Carrie want a drink? Snack?" "Erm I'm fine thankyou!! Want me to come help?" "No no you're fine that's why I've dragged these two up" I smiled at her and walked out the room, Alex was shaking with nerves "mum I'm gonna fuke" I looked at him "fuke?" "Faint and puke" I caught Jensen's eye who had the same look as me "Erm Alex, the cd, we recorded...it doesn't work..." "What!?" "The cd....doesn't....work...comprende?" "Oh...oh I heard you...what do you mean it doesn't work!?" "Look, we've sorted it out! But you're gonna have to man up you're doing it live" he swallowed nervously "but I don't have my....cards...thanks" Jensen passed him the A5 card with his writing on them "right...you got the ring?" He held it in his hand "you ready?" I was nervous for him "I'm ready" he nodded and walked through the back and waited behind the stage curtain, Jensen and I returned with some snacks and sat back down "where's Alex?" "Just nipped to the loo, he won't be too long" I smiled at Carrie as mouse squeezed my hand tightly.

Loud familiar music began to play, the beginning of crazy love, I looked at Jensen impressed and leant forward "how'd you manage that one?" "I had the sheet music, I gave it them before the show, they were thrilled to play it" I kissed his cheek and sat back, Carrie tuned around "I didn't know they did entertainment in the inter-" "Carrie....." Alex spoke through the microphone, her head shot round, being on the front row made it easier to read the cards as she leant forward and read them all, one by one, Alex lifted a card out of the way, earning 'awws' from the audience, then he finally got to the last card "will you make me the happiest man alive..." He dropped the card revealing the black velvet box with a big diamond ring in the centre, Carrie gasped, turned around to me who already had tears in my eyes and stood up, the music stopped, the audience was silent, my heart was pounding "YES!" She shouted "of course I will you big romantic sop!" Alex quickly jumped off the stage and ran to her, placing the ring on her finger and hugging her in a tight embrace, I'd never heard an audience cheer as loudly as that in my life.

As the show was near the end Alex turned around "this Wasn't from this moment!," "no, that is her favourite song!" I chuckled as the audience began to applaud as the actors bowed in front of us, we made an exit out of the theatre to a long black limo sat out front "who's that for?" Carrie looked at us "we thought the newly weds deserved to have a nice ride to the next destination" the flung her arms around my neck "thankyou!" Of course I hugged her back twice as hard and let her get in the car.

It was then a mad dash to get to the cocktail bar before them, summer was already there, having hung up balloons making the place look grand, all the friends and family were there, waiting with party poppers, ready to pull the string as the newly engaged couple walked through the door....Jensen ran in "THEYRE HERE!" And got into position, as Carrie and Alex walked through we all shouted congratulations and covered them in party popper confetti, the look on their faces was enough as they were greeted by their family and friends.

Halfway through the night summer helped me to stand on the bar side "OKAY!!" I tapped the microphone "the time has come for a big thankyou to everyone...I could go all cocktail on you and quote some Tom cruise to you, but I won't do that...however much it's killing me" I smiled at the laughing faces, "now I jus-" alex tapped me on the foot with Carrie stood beside him, I bent down "what?" "We have a bit of a surprise..." He motioned to stand up on the barside, I helped him up "apart from saying thankyou to you all for making this so special, we have an announcement to make....Carrie and I, are expecting our first baby" my eyes widened...I was going to be a grandma....oh my god I was going to be a grandma!! I don't remember much after that, I remember squealing, hugging and then drinking....but overall I think it was a good day had by all, and Flynn was smiling at me as he danced with a girl similar age to him, summer was beaming as she mixed her cocktails up, I was sat on a chair when mouse held out his hand "come on grandma, come have a dance with grandad" I looked up at him, taking his hand as we walked out to the dance floor "let's show these people how to really dance!" He smirked at me as can't touch this blasted through the speakers....
