Chapter 36 - wheres my car?

With Megan's hair back to normal, mouse an I in our lifeguard uniforms and Jake...in board shorts and flowery pink shirt....don't ask "okay I'll drive us, because I need to go shopping later" "and whys that?" Mouse looked at me "I'm going out...." "Where to?" "It's only for an hour..." "So where you going" I was about to make up some lie when Jake spoke up "hey I've got a go pro if you wanna borrow that" I closed my eyes and sighed heavily "why do you need a go pro?" Again, I was going to lie, until, Jake decided to read out my shopping list I'd obviously dropped, "cable ties, monitor screens...recording systems...." "Charlie, this better not be what I think it is" "I need to do something Michael...my mother is being beat up and I can't do anything until I have proof!" "You are not a detective, you are not a spy, you cannot break into your mothers house and place cameras and recording equipment that she doesn't know about!" "Technically it's not breaking in if I have a key!" "Charlie-" "we are late for work, let's go!" I walked outside and stood there, staring at where my car should be, instead, an empty space greeted me, "where's my car?" I walked out to the space and stood there, "DUDE, WHERES MY CAR?!?"

We eventually got to the lifeguard tower, I walked in, threw my bag into the cupboard and sat down, in a huff "sup with you grumpy guts!?" Maxi sat next to me "somebody has stolen my car" "have you call-" "yes! I have and they're not doing anything!" "Sorry i asked" "sorry maxi I just...I'm stressed" "it's fine, I get it, it's cool" he pulled me in under his arm when he straightened up "maxi?" "You're a quicker runner" "Thankyou?" "No Charlie, drowning swimmer, I need you to run!" I jumped up quickly, rand own grabbing a board that wasn't even in its stand yet and paddled out to the blonde haired man bobbing around the water. I hauled him onto my board, paddled in and dragged him up the beach, sat him down and rubbed the sand from his face "hey y'all right?" I put a mask over his face a towel over his shoulders "you don't recognise me?" "Should I?" I looked at his face "spencer potter" i racked my brain "God was I that bad of A boyfriend?" It clicked "no frickin way!!! Spotty spencer!?!" He chuckled as he took off his mask "not so many spots now huh" "no...no you're you're...g..." Okay speechless, doesn't happen often..."not too bad yourself, but I'm noticing a ring on that finger" he smiled as he stood up slowly, helping me pack away the first aid "nothing on yours? Are women crazy?" "No, they just don't like my job, here let me help you carry that" he took the board from my arm as I carried the bag upto the tower.

Inside we sat down, Jake had brought everyone coffee "so what's your job?" "I'm a firemen" I swallowed a big mouthful of hot coffee and choked on my burning and probably blistering throat "careful" mouse chuckled as he walked in "who's this?" "This is s-" "spencer potter" he held out his hand, mouse shuck it carefully "and I should know that name?" "Oh me and Charlie used to date" jeez don't hold back "ok, well I'm Charlie's husband" "wow, yeah I can see what you saw in her" "what and not what she saw in me?" "No I didn't mean it like th-" "guys I'm stood here" they both looked at me, spencer the blonde model type, stubble, blue pools of eyes, mouse...well....mouse..."spencer here is a fireman" "and I'm a lifeguard" mouse looked at me confused "hey I'm gonna go grab cake, to say thnkyou, I'll be back, let you two talk!" He disappeared quickly "but mouse....fireman" "Charlie....lifeguard" "dude she's got a thing for firemen...always has" whip chirped up, grinning as he watched the whole scene unfold "well I'd like to see him rescue someone drowning in his firman outfit" "I'd quite happily watch him strip it off" "CHARLIE!" "sorry! Sorry..." "Why is it, in such a short space of time, two of your ex's have shown up?" "I don't know...I'm not exactly thrilled about it" "oh yeah you seem really put out" "dude...fireman!" "ANYWAY I don't know why, but can you please not fall for them" "don't be stupid, I'm finding Jake a girlfriend and spencer is gay" the whole lifeguard team turned to look at me "was he gay when you dated him?" Whip began to giggle "no" "did you turn him?" Maxi laughed out loud "NO! Will you grow up!" Spencer suddenly worked back in holding cakes, everyone turned around to face him, it was silent, spence looked up at me "you told them didn't you?" "I was defending myself!" "Yes I am gay, I am a firefighter, get over it I could knock you all out!" He faked throwing punches "and anyway, im actually bi" he put the cakes in the side "well good on ya laddo" harries high fived him before we all sat down with the cakes and coffee. "Y'all right Charlie?" "You got a car spence?" "Yes?" Mouse was down south beach "fancy taking me to the store?" "Er yeah?" "Great!"

After the store we pulled up outside mums house, "okay, she's going to the zoo for the day, "their car has just left I'll be back shortly, keep an eye out!" I grabbed the bag as spence grabbed me "why are doing this?" "My mum is being beaten...I'm here to prove it" I got out, and snuck into mums house, as I fitted the last go pro my phone rang "spence?" 'Yo a car has just pulled on the drive and a man is heading in the house' "shit Timothy!" I then heard the front door go 'just grabbing my wallet!" I looked around the bedroom, shit, of course, there was his wallet, as I heard his footsteps coming up the stairs I threw myself under the bed and held my breath, I could see his feet edging closer, he stood there, for a while before grabbing his wallet and then closing the front door behind him 'all clear, let's go Charlie' I ran out the house and into his car as he sped off quickly.

On the way back to the tower I noticed something "STOP THE CAR" spence jumped out of his skin as he slammed in the breaks, I leapt out the car and stormed to a bunch of men down an alley, sat with three cars, one being mine "CHARLIE, Charlie what the hell are you doing?" "OI" a bunch of men all looked up at me "YOU THIEVING SCUMBAG BASTARDS" "Charlie calm it" spence stood by my side "give me my car" "you mean our car" "no jackass I mean my car, give it or I call the police" they all laughed at me "well done char, really showing em who's boss" I turned around to spence "sorry" "give me....my car." "No" I grabbed a hold of his shirt "now" "or what?" Suddenly police sirens sped into the alley blocking off any chance of escape, the police jumped out and ran towards the group, grabbing one by one I still had hold of the one who too my car "thanks for calling Charlie" "can you do me a favour terry?" "Yeah what?" "Turn around?" She chuckled before spinning around, I quickly punched the arse in the stomach, grabbed my car keys as Terry took hold the man "thanking you kindly! hey spence meet you at the tower?" "Race ya" he smiled as he got in his car, I got in mine, and I knew a shortcut, so of course I won....

"You've got your car...do I want to know how?" "Nope" I tapped mouse's cheek as I sat down "she is even more of a badass then I remember" "again do I wanna know?" "Probably not!" I stole his last bit of cake, and kissed his cheek before looking back at spence "what?" "Nothing...." I sighed "yes you can" he rolled his eyes "huh?" "You can ride in my truck" "I wouldn't want to impose..." "You're not, after work lets go, bring mouse" whip, maxi and harries head appeared a round the corner "how about you bring them all" spence looked at me and smiled.

I sat in the fire truck "this is amazing" I beeped the horn "here try on the outfit!" Spence gave me the full fireman outfit and hat and showed me where to get changed, I came back out shortly "holllllly shiittttt" the lads gasped "what?!" "My god...you can leaveeee your hat onnnn" harries began to sing "come on firefighter Charlie, in the truck" I got in the truck as I sat there I suddenly heard an alarm, spence jumped in, as did several other firemen "ooh hello" I girly clapped fluttering my eyelashes "Charlie Jenkison?!" Most of them chimed as the truck began to move "Hey guys, wait WHOA WHERE ARE WE GOING?!?!" "Fire!" Spence smiled as he put his foot down...we sped through the streets, sirens blaring, lights flashing, not gonna lie, this was an adrenaline rush.
