She hummed while looking at herself in the mirror, adjusting her hair one last time before Vox came home. She had closed the studio early just to get ready and look cuter for him. It would be their first date as a couple. She wanted to look gorgeous for him.
When she heard the front door open and close, she sat down on a chair in her room and grabbed the first book she could find, pretending to read.
Vox walked into her room, knowing she would probably be there, and saw her sitting on a chair looking adorable. A soft smile escaped his lips, even though rage had slowly been eating him alive throughout the day. He took a few steps closer to her.
"Special book you're reading?" he asked, visibly suppressing a laugh.
Y/n looked up before closing the book and realized the book she was reading was upside down. She coughed and dropped it onto the floor.
"I... um... it's because there was a picture in the book, and it was upside down, so..." she said with an awkward laugh.
He chuckled.
Their eyes met, and she stood up before taking a few steps toward him.
"Good evening, Vox."
"Good evening, darling."
He cupped her face and kissed her softly, though there was still that hunger that was uniquely Vox. His shoulders slowly relaxed, releasing all the tension he had carried throughout the day, as he felt her hand rest on his shoulder and his own settle on her waist. It reminded him that even though Valentino had tried to interfere with what they had, she had chosen him in the end. They had ended up together, and nothing could come between them anymore.
His hand tightened slightly around her waist as the kiss deepened, neither of them wanting to pull away.
Their lips slowly parted before their eyes met. He carefully took her hands and led her to sit on the bed.
"I needed to talk to you about something."
Y/n's heart skipped a beat as she stared into Vox's eyes in confusion. She hated that sentence.
"It's about Val. He told me something today. He was the one who sent you that photo that day."
Her brows furrowed. Even though she had strongly suspected it was him, hearing the confirmation was still surprising. It must have been even more surprising for Vox. Valentino had been possessive of him from the very beginning, and she understood why now that she knew they had been sleeping together. Valentino had developed feelings for Vox, but Vox hadn't returned them. He never seemed to notice or understand how deep feelings could run sometimes.
"It would be a lie to say I never suspected Valentino," Y/n said, keeping her hands folded neatly in her lap.
Vox nodded before rolling his eyes with a groan.
"Part of me isn't really surprised, knowing Val, but I'm still shocked he had the audacity to go against me! To ignore my orders!"
He let out another frustrated groan and stood up, as though sitting still was physically restraining him.
"I gave him everything—fame, his own studio, everything! I... argh! Shit! Sometimes I feel like he just wants our downfall! My downfall! He's so infuriating! He would be nothing without me! Nothing! Even with this angelic plan we had, he kept going, 'I don't understand this, Papi.' God!"
Seeing his anger boil over, she stood up and wrapped her arms around him from behind. He immediately fell silent and glanced back at her over his shoulder.
She looked up and met his eyes.
"Don't get worked up over him, Vox. He doesn't deserve it."
Vox looked away and sighed.
