Chapter 19

I don't have any idea how long it's been since I left my house, but as Clover and I trotted around in the woods I spotted a pond.

Clover hadn't drank or ate anything since we left home, so I stopped Clover right in front of a pond and I got off of her back.

She immediately put her head down and drank some water. I looked around and all that I saw was trees and more trees.

I was still really upset that my dad was going into the military, tears were still drying on my face. I looked up at the sky and I saw that it was just starting to get dark out, that usually meant that it was about 7:30 pm.

I walked back over to Clover and I pet her back, Clover nuzzled her head towards me and I just stood there with her for a couple minutes petting and talking to her.

"You're an amazing horse you know." I said to Clover. Clover bobbed her head as if to agree with me. I chuckled to myself and then I mounted her again.

We followed the trail even though I had no idea where I am going and I pretty sure that Clover didn't know where we were either.

We rode down the trail for a while until it was almost pitch black, we then finally came across a road. I decided that it would be best to stay out in the open at night so that I could keep an eye on our surroundings.

When Clover and I got to the road I saw a figure about 100 meters away from us. I quickly got off of Clover and stopped us so that I could try to find out what the figure was.

I didn't know what to do so I walked Clover over to the side of the road and I tied her to a tree. I told her to be very quiet and then I snuck into the woods.

I tried to be extremely quiet as I snuck through the woods. When I finally got closer to the figure I heard him calling "Jack, where are you?!?!"

By his voice I knew that he was male probably close to my age. I still wasn't sure if he was a threat or not so I followed him for about two minutes.

Until I tripped... My foot got caught on a branch and I fell onto my back flat on the road. I knew that before I tripped that I was really close to the guy on the road and now I had to be just a few feet away from him.

When I fell I heard the voice say "what the hell?!" I quickly got up and I was about 5 feet away from the guy. "Um who are you and what are you doing here?" The voice asked me.
