Chapter 8

When I went back downstairs I looked at the clock and It said 7:00 o'clock pm. "Erica should be here soon I thought to myself."

I walked over to the living room and I saw both of my parents siting on the couch watching tv. I sat down in between them and I stared at the tv.

After what felt like 4 hours watching some boring documentary about panda bears the doorbell rang.

I then got up off of the couch and I headed for the door. When I opened the door I saw Erica standing there holding a sleeping bag and a plastic bag that looked like it had clothing inside of it.

When Erica stepped in the door I saw her dad's black truck pulling out of our driveway. Then Erica and I headed for the stairs.

Both my parents said "hi" to Erica and Erica said "hi" back to them. After that Erica and I went up the stairs towards my room.

When we got to my room Erica set her stuff down onto my floor. Then Erica and I both sat down onto my bed.

"Do you want to see Apollo?" I asked her. "Sure" she said to me. Then Erica and I went downstairs and we went outside and headed towards the barn.

When Erica and I got into the barn Clover and Jinx looked and Erica and I and something didn't feel right to me.

When Erica and I walked over to Apollo's stall I didn't see him. "Where is he?" Erica asked me. "I don't know" I said to her.

Then I leaned over the stall and I saw Apollo laying down on the ground. "Go get my mom" I told Erica. "Okay" she said.

Erica ran out of the barn and I heard he calling for my mom. I went into Apollo's stall and he just looked at me.

I tried to get him up by pushing on his back but nothing was working he just laid there looking helpless.

Erica came back into the barn and she was standing beside my mom. My mom looked at me and I said "something's wrong he won't get up!!"

"I will call the vet" my mom said to me, and she ran back towards the house. Erica came over to Apollo and I and she sat down on the floor beside me.

I started to rub Apollo's back and Erica did the same. "I'm sure that he will be okay" Erica said to me. "We don't know that for sure" I said to her.

"I know" she said, "but hopefully he will be okay." Erica and I sat with Apollo for about 5 minutes until my mom came back into the barn.

"Doctor Charles is on his was here now" my mom said. "Okay thank you for calling him I said to my mom." "Is there anything I can do to help?" My mom asked me.

"No but thanks anyways." I said to my mom. Erica and I just sat there with Apollo as my mind raced.

"What if he dies" "what if the vet doesn't get here in time?!" I thought to myself. Erica interrupted my thoughts by saying "relax."

"Okay I will try" I told Erica. Then Both of my parents appeared at the barn door. They both walked into the barn and sat down with us.

We sat there for about 15 minutes until the vet came. Doctor Charles walked into the barn and came right over to Apollo.

"How long has he been laying down?" The vet asked me. "We found him laying down about 30 minutes ago," I told the vet.

"Okay" the vet said. Then the vet asked everyone to back up. Erica my parents and I backed up from Apollo. The vet then examined Apollo.

After that he took the gaze of off Apollo's leg and he said "now I see the problem." "What's the problem?" I asked the vet.

"His leg is infected." Doctor Charles told me. "What do we have to do now?" I asked the vet.
