I started down the stairs as slow as I could, trying to stall for time. I didn't know what to expect. As far as I knew I hadn't done anything wrong.

When I got down the stairs I saw my parents sitting on the couch together in the living room. As I got closer I saw that my dad had his arm around my mom's shoulder, and neither of them looked happy.

When I got into the living room I sat down in the love seat directly across from both of my parents. After siting there in silence for what felt like 2 hours my mom finally said "your school called today."

"Okay" I said. Then my dad said "your math teacher is very concerned with your grades." "Oh" I said. "Oh" my dad repeated, "that's all that you have to say for your self?!"

"Clam down" my mom said to my dad. My dad's face softened a little bit. "Were just worried" my dad said, and my mom nodded.

"You always do so good in school" my mom said. "What has changed?" My dad asked me. "I don't know" I said, "it's just harder now."

"We both know that your more than capable of doing the work" my dad said. "Is something distracting you?" My mom said. She knew that I was distracted and she knew why.

I didn't want to tell my dad that he was the reason why I was so distracted, and I didn't want to stop him from going into the military but I was worried.

"You need to do better in school my" dad said. "I can't." I said. "We know that you can" my dad said. My mom just sat there not saying a thing.

How could she let this happen I thought, she can't just do nothing, she's knows how much I don't want my dad going into the military.

"Lilly!" My dad said, jerking me back to reality. I just looked at him blankly. Then as fast as I could I ran upstairs to my room.

I laid flat on my bed and tried to hold back tears. There was a bang a the door and I said "go away!" "No" the voice called back. Judging By the pitch of the voice it sounded like my mom.

Then my door flew open to reveal my mom running into my room. "What's wrong?!" She asked me. "You know" I said under my breath.

She must of heard me because I watched her facial expression change to surprised. "What do you mean?" my mom asked me.

"I mean about dad and the military." I said. "I can't concentrate in school so my grades are bad." I sniffled. "Oh honey" she said.

"You need to talk to your dad." She said. "but I don't want to stop him from going." I told my mom. "Then Tell him that" my mom said.

"Okay" I agreed. "Okay" my mom said, "then I will go and get him." Then my mom stood up and she walked out of my room, and I heard her call for my dad.

After that I stood up and I grabbed a tissue off of my night stand and I wiped my face trying to compose myself. Then I went into the bathroom and threw my tissue into the garbage.

After that I splashed my face with water and I went back into my bedroom. I sat there for a few minutes wondering where my dad was until there was a knock at the door.

"Come in" I said. I watched my dad walk into my room and he sat down onto my bed across from me. After we sat in silence for a few seconds my dad said.

"I didn't know that you felt that way." "I didn't want to tell you." I replied. "Why?" My dad said. "I don't want to stop you from going into the military."

I said, "but I don't want you to get hurt." After a few seconds of silence he said, "even if I get into the military I may not say yes." "I have 30 days to respond." He said.
