Chapter 12

When I got into the house I went right upstairs. I was glad that Apollo was okay, but I was very upset that I had to let him go.

I know that it is the right thing to do but it doesn't make letting him go any easier. When I went upstairs I had a hot bath and I tried to relax.

After I had a bath I got dressed and I read more of my book. Then there was a knock at my door. "Come in." I said. Then my door opened and I saw my mom walk into my room.

"Are you okay" she asked me. "I don't know why dad and you keep asking, I'm fine." I said. "I know that it will be hard to let Apollo go but it has to happen." My mom said.

"I know" I told her. "Do you promise that you will let him go?" My mom asked me. "I promise." I said. "Okay good." She said.

Then she kissed me on the cheek and she left my room. After that I looked at the clock and it was 9:45. So I put some pj's on and I crawled into bed.

I tossed and turned all night, there was to much on my mind to sleep. I looked at the clock and first it was 12:24 and then 3:45 and finally I heard my alarm go off at 7:15.

I think that I got about 2 hours of sleep, and I was exhausted. I got up and put my school uniform on and then I went downstairs. I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and then I went back upstairs.

I noticed that my parents bedroom door was closed. So I walked in and my mom was siting on the bed. Her face was red with tears and as soon as I saw her she turned the other way.

"What's wrong?" I asked concerned. "Nothing" my mom said. "Tell me" I said. "I know that something's wrong."

Then my mom slowly turned around and I was sure that she had been crying. "It's your dad." She said. My heart skipped a beat, and my mind raced. "What if he's hurt." "What if he got killed?!"

"What about about dad" I said aloud. "It's just..." my mom started and stopped. "Take your time I said." To my mom.

"I don't want him to get hurt." she finished. "What do you mean?" I asked her. "In the military." she replied.

"I don't want him to get hurt either." it told her. "But we can't stop him from going, and he may not even be excepted ."

"I know" my mom said. "I'm not going to make him stay here but I don't want him to go either." "I understand" I said.

"But even if he gets accepted he may not say yes." "Remember mom" I said "he has 30 days to say yes or no if they except him."

"I remember." my mom said. "Good" I said. "Now what time do you have to be at work today?" I asked my mom. 9:30, my mom said.

"Okay" I said "how about you have a hot shower and relax then have breakfast and head to work." "Okay" my mom said.

"Where is dad?" I asked slowly. "He's at work." my mom said. "Okay" I said. Then my mom got up and headed to the bathroom that was connected to my parents room.

I was just about to leave my mom's room. When she said "Lilly?" "Yes" I said turning around. "Can we keep this between us please?" She asked.

"Of course" I said leaving my mom's room. Then I went to my room and grabbed my bag off of the ground.

After that I went downstairs and quickly packed myself a lunch. Then I looked at the clock and it was 8:22 am. Then I went upstairs and knocked on the bathroom door.

"Mom" I said "I have to leave for school now, okay?" "Okay" I heard my mom say of the noise of the shower. "Bye" I said.

Then I went out to the porch and I waited for the bus to come. I was out on the porch for about 2 minutes until the bus pulled up and then I got onto the bus.

When I got onto the bus I saw Erica siting near the back, Then I went to the back of the bus and I sat down beside Erica.

"Hey" she said. "Hello" I said back. "Where were you yesterday?" I asked her. "I was sick." she said. "Oh okay" I replied.

Then I filled Erica in on everything about Apollo. "That's good right?" Erica asked me. "I guess" I said.

"But you can't let him go can you?" Erica asked me. "It's like you read my mind" I said. "I know you well," she said "what do you expect?"

"Very true." I said. Then Erica and I looked at each other and we started laughing together. A few minutes later I told her about Jack and how he kept bugging me.

"He's a big jerk." Erica said, "he's got a bad reputation for that around school. She told me. "I thought that I heard some rumours about that." I said.

"But I didn't know for sure until yesterday." I told Erica. "Ya I think that I heard similar rumours." Erica said. After we finished talking we both looked up and we were pulling into the school.

When we got off of the bus we walked together and then we went our different ways into the school. I couldn't concentrate all day.

My mind would not shut up. After I struggled through the day I was happy when the last bell finally rang. When I left the school I headed for the bus stop.

I saw Erica standing at the bus stop. "How are you?" Erica asked me. "Okay" I replied. "Okay" she repeated. "What else is wrong?" Erica said, "I missed something earlier."

"It's just." I started. "What?" She asked me. "My dad and the military." "Is there new news she asked me?" Erica knew about my dad and the military, and I always kept her up to date with everything about the military.

"Yes" I said, "he is going for training next week." "And this morning when I woke up I found my mom really upset about it."

"I'm sorry." Erica told me. "Thanks" I said. Then we both saw the bus pull up in front of us. After everyone on else got onto the bus Erica and I went on together last.

Then Erica and I sat down in the same seat at the back of the bus. "I thought that my mom was okay, with my dad applying to the military but I guess not." I finished.

"It makes sense that your mom didn't tell you that she was upset." Erica said. "I guess so." I said. "I just wish that we both could be okay with my dad applying for the military."

"I know" Erica said, "but it's normal to worry." "And it would be crazy if you and your mom didn't worry about your dad." Erica said.

"I know but that doesn't make it easier." I told Erica. "I understand." she said. Then Erica and I hugged each other and she said "it will be okay, I promise Lilly.

"Thanks" I said. After we finished talking I read some of my book until the bus pulled into my driveway. Then I said "bye" too Erica and I got off of the bus.

As soon as I got of off the bus I noticed that both my parents car's were in the driveway. When I got into the house I started to go up the stairs and I saw both of my parents standing at the top of the stair case.

"Hi" I said cautiously. "Hi" my dad said in his stern voice. The first clue that he was not happy. When I got up the stairs my mom said "Lilly we need to talk."

"Okay" I said slowly. "Meet us downstairs in 10 minutes" my dad said. "Okay" was all that I could say. Then as my parents went downstairs I went into my room.

Then I put my bag onto my bed and I tried to prepare my self for what was to come. Then I laid down onto my bed flat on my back.

I laid there for a few minutes until I headed to the bathroom. Then after I went to the bathroom I started walking toward my bedroom until I heard my mom say "Lilly come down here." _________________________________________________________________________________Here is the next chapter on Wednesday like I promised and as always keep commenting and voting.
