Chapter 44

CHARLOTTE POV.

It was Thursday, the day Hayes was leaving, forever. My week was the worst. Joel started to come to the same school as I went to, he was in about 4 of my subjects, my lab partner in science, I got a detention for being late again, Hayes thinks I like Joel again and I got grounded for 2 weeks for getting 2 detentions in the past week. So that was my week. Hayes was pretty upset all week, over everything really. He wouldn't talk to anyone.

I got up early, I wasn't planning on going to school, on time anyway. Hayes' flight was at 10:45. I honestly didn't care if I was late. I got up and got dressed and walked downstairs. Hayes was already up. "Good morning," I replied as I got down the stairs. "Not really," he replied as he sat at the table. "Hayes, we will miss you, don't even think that we wouldn't," I said sitting beside him. "I know you would, just promise me something," He said looking at me sincerely.

"Sure," I replied. "Just don't get back together with Joel, that would hurt more than you breaking up with me in the start," "Of course," I replied before Nash got down stairs. "You ready to go?" He asked as he grabbed his keys off of the table. "Its not even 9 yet," I said standing up. "Yeah, but he has to get checked in and all that stuff," Nash replied.

"Yeah, I'm ready," Hayes said totally brushing me off. "I'm coming," I said as I started to get ready. "No, I don't want you too," Hayes said before he started to walk up the stairs slowly. I was left speechless just standing there.

"Sorry Char," Nash said as he walked out to the car. Dad walked down the stairs before rushing out of the door. "You can stay home today, see you when we get back," He simply said before he walked out the front door.

"Bye Char," Hayes said as he pulled his suitcase behind him. "Why don't you want me to come?" I asked as I stood up after sitting at the kitchen. "Char," He said calmly. "No, tell me," I said sternly. "It's not that I don't want you to go," He said making eye contact. "Its that if you do come I wouldn't be able to leave," He added causing me to tear up. "Hayes, I will always miss you," I said as I walked over to him and hugged him tightly as he hugged me back.

As we were hugging we heard the car horn. Hayes pulled away as I did slowly. "Good bye Char," He said as he kissed my forehead gently. He started to walk away from me as I felt tears start to stream down my face. I grabbed his hand and he turned around.

"Promise," I said as my voice cracked from the tears. "Promise," He replied with sadness in his face. Next thing I knew, we was gone. Out of the house, out of the city, out of the state and out of my life, but never out of my heart....
