Well long-story-short, blind combat is one on one close quarter combat. Oh and if that's not exciting enough, you should probably hear about the blind part. Each team would pick one team member to go up the platform without knowing who the opponent is. So we should rely on luck or count the probability on who to get as a challenger (That's the blind part). So each team would be put on one side of the platform with a solid metal wall to block any spying action. And when each team have decided the fighters, the competitors would go on the platform and the metal wall would slide upwards, revealing each other's rival. So that's a brief description of blind combat.

I was searching for a way to release my anger in a non self-or -anybody harming way and instead I got myself a fight. I was worried I'm going to lose control but I knew I couldn't back down now. This was an evaluation test from the coach and I plan to excel in it.

Me and Liv picked our teammates. She got the upper hand because she knew everybody's strength and weaknesses and also because most of the students would rather pick to be on her team. So when it was my turn, I randomly picked anyone who seemed strong. Then there were two. It was Liv's turn to pick.

One girl seemed nervous and scared and the other just stood next to her calmly. The jittery one was a bit shorter and skinnier than the other so it was pretty obvious who would Liv pick.

Liv glanced at my team and accidentally locked eyes with me. She was biting her lip, deep in thought. One of her teammates whispered in her ear to choose the obvious winning one and she tried to argue but I could hear the other girl's answer. 'Do it for the team. Don't pity your enemy.' She exhaled and mouthed a sorry to me. I gave a smile and mouthed back 'it's okay'. She chose the calm one.

Coach's whistle blew loudly which made me flinched. "Teams separate! Discuss your strategy NOW! 5 minutes!" He said loudly with saliva spitting like rain. "Guys will go first!"

We followed coach's order.

The girls are separated into two teams of 12. I gathered my team into one of the corners of the room and as we formed a circle, I could see that we were definitely smaller in physical size, except for Angela (she's tall) so I had to create a smart strategy. I only knew half of the girls here so I asked them to introduce themselves with one special skill that might be of use in combat. 11 names excluding me, Angela, Theresa, Rachel, Claire, Elizabeth, Andrea, Kayla, Hayden, Ellen, June, and Vanessa. They told me all are light on their feet but aren't as strong as our opponents.

Okay, so tire them up.

"So here's our strategy." I said in a whisper loud enough for the six of us to hear. "Agility, speed and tiring our opponents before taking a strike." They all replied with a slight nod. "Just run around and dodge their punches or kicks. Don't let them grab you because there is a sixty percent chance that they will outgain you."

They all nodded again but this time their faces gave out a hint of worry.

"Hey, don't worry. Just try your best and don't think about losing." I said. "Yes, we are the underdogs but we have a shot to bring down our opponent." I gave them a smile. "We're gonna be the highlight of today's match."

They all smiled. "All we need to do is believe." The girl named Rachel said. "And we'll be alright." Another girl named Theresa continued.

I beamed at the thought of us winning. "Yeah. Positivity, people!" Angela said in support.

"Hands in!" I said. Then we all cheered for the welfare of our team.

"6-4! Jackson's on lead!"

Claire just lost her match. She winched as she tried to walk down step by step from the platform. It was a last minute decision to put Claire on the ring as we thought the other opponent would be weaker than her. But really, skill's all you need. She beat Claire in under two minutes, leaving me in awe and Claire harmed.

She dragged herself slowly to our corner and apologized for losing but we didn't care about that now. "Don't worry, it's just one point." I assured her.

Claire put a frown and tried to argue but Angela stopped her. "We're glad you're okay." Angela patted Claire on her back who still put a frown on her face but didn't argue more.

Rachel, Kayla, Andrea and Theresa had gone to fight and they all won. Their matches took more than ten minutes but in the end their opponents fell down of weariness, so the plan had worked.

"Angela. It's your turn." I called her. "Liv and Madeline are left so whichever you get, I know it wouldn't be easy." Rachel said followed by shushing from others. Kayla elbowed Rachel and she put on a bewildered expression like she didn't do anything wrong.

Angela put on a frown on her face; a frown of worry. I went to her and said some motivational sentences, mostly 'don't worry' and all. "Your taller than both of them so you have an advantage." I whispered as I brought her far away from Rachel.

"The bigger they are, the harder they fall." Angela pointed out, her frown still fixed. I knew I had to lie to comfort so I did.

"Never heard of it." I spoke. Angela rolled her eyes but I stopped her. "You were the one that said about optimism. You supported every one of you teammates with a smile. So now do it for yourself." I could see her trying to argue back. "I know you have a chance in winning and all I ask is for you to try. I saw the reactions they put on when I chose you." My finger pointed on the other team. "Some dropped their jaws, while some other swore! They wanted you on their team. They're afraid!" Those were truth.

Angela cut me. "And I shouldn't? Trish was the fifth ranking person there and she broke Claire. And I'm up against the first or the second!"

I swallowed hard. "You should be scared." I whispered under my breath. "What?!" Angela replied.

"We are all scared!" I broke. "I am scared!" I pointed to myself with frustration. Her frown disappeared as it was replaced by shock.

"I am scared! I am scared to not be able to fit in here! I'm scared when the coach pick me! I! Am! Scared!" I breathe heavily. "You should be too. But you should at least try."

Angela looked shaken. "I-I'm.. sorry. I didn't mean to involve myself."

She took a deep breath and exhaled. She was a bit taller than me so she reached down and tap my shoulder. "I'm glad you did, though." She said then flew away to the platform. "I'll try.

***

It's me and Angela vs. Liv and Madeline. I really want Angela to win so it would be fair if she got Madeline, the second ranking teammate on the other group. But if Madeline fought Angela, then I have to fight Liv. I can't do that.

Logical me says Angela should get Madeline but social me said it'd be better if I fight Madeline and Angela fighting Liv. Make up my mind!

The metal block slid up slowly creating tension for every single viewer of the match. All I could see was a pair of feet. My heartbeat quickened. The wall slid up a little higher and now I could see the girl's black training pants. I chant the name Madeline out loud as my fingers crossed. A purple sport shirt came next. Deep down I chant the name Liv.

And finally the metal wall disappeared as it revealed Angela's opponent and my destiny.

A/N: About Angela's opponent, should it be Liv or Madeline? Comment for Madeline, vote for Liv! I'll let you guys decide and until then... I'll be waiting..
