"Liv! You in?" I knocked on her room door. No answer. Cash said tutoring would start tomorrow as today she has errands to run so I went to the given address (as in room number) of Liv's. I knocked once more and then the door opened. Jeanne was behind it and she smiled at the sight of me.

"Oh, hey Iris." She said softly. " Liv's inside."

I walked inside and was immediately amazed by the elegant and brute wall décor. On the right side is the sophisticated and elegant part of the room. The walls are painted light green with a bit of texture but otherwise, plain. The texture on the wall formed a unique yet simple pattern that reminds me of a water symbol. The bed covers are tucked in nicely and above it lay various kinds of picture frames, each with a different memory and picture. On the left side is the colorful and creative part of the room. Complete opposite with cleanliness but the walls were painted in a shades of orange that looks like sunset. The colors collide on the middle of the roof forming a sun in the middle of spring. The sun has a light bulb on it so it literally shines.

"Wow." I was in awe as I looked around.

"Oh these?" Liv said. "It was nothing. Just had to work really hard for almost a week to perfect this art. Right Liv?"

"Yup." Jeanne answered. "Not the best week but look how it turned out." Liv nodded.

The bedroom walls were stunning indeed. I looked over to what Jeanne is doing.

"Jeanne Grey?" I pointed at the screen. "Marvel much?"

Jeanne smiled and rolled her eyes. "There is no such thing as too much 'Marvel' and it's a perfect name Paige." She said. "Deal. With. It." She logged into Arlington's web based chat and clicked on a file to send to a L_J 22.

"Who or what is L_J 22?" I asked. Her eyes looked over to Liv. She waved her hand without taking her eyes of her laptop screen.

"It's an IT project Paige. We have to create a do-hickey to hack the teacher's security system." She explained. Liv put on her glasses and started working on it.

"Do-hickey as in a program, Iris." Liv said to me. "Jeanne partnered up with me but I'm the one doing the whole work." Liv sighed.

As soon as she heard her answer Jeanne pouted, closed her laptop and went over to Liv then hugged her. "You know you're the best IT geek BFF that I love."

"I'm no geek J. And I know you do"

I heard my phone rang and picked it up. It was my mom. After 3 days she finally called.

"Hullo? Iris?" My mom's voice.

"Hi mom." I answered.

"I-I'm sorry I didn't call you on your first day."

"It's okay mom. I didn't call you either, so apologies for both of us."

Silence.

"I miss you Iris. And how's Arlington? Just like how you expected?" she asked with a tone of worry.

"No. Not exactly." I answered. I couldn't lie to her."But it's great." But I couldn't make her worry either.

My mom sighed in relief. "That's great honey. We all miss you Iris."

"Miss you too mom. Also Kate and Dad."

"Okay then. Bye honey." She said and then made a smooch sound.

I chuckled. "Bye mom." She then hung up and I closed my phone.

Jeanne and Liv stared at me. "Homesick?"

"Huh?" I said.

"Your eyes are watery." Liv pointed out.

I didn't realize it and I quickly wiped my eyes. There's no denying that I missed my home so I didn't try to hide it from Jeanne and Liv. "It's my first time to be apart from them."

"It'll get better." Jeanne said as she held my hand then gave it a quick squeeze. "Thanks Jeanne." I said and wiped my eyes before tears fell.

"Now, stop crying would ya?" Liv continued. "Got to figure this one little bug then we can go to the party."

"What party?" I asked.

Jeanne looked at Liv. Liv looked at me, surprised. "I thought you knew."

I put out an irritated face. "How should I know?" I asked to myself then sighed.

"The greatest party of the year to honor Sir Arlington himself." Liv explained.

"So it's a formal party? Like a ball then?"

Jeanne shook his head. "It used to be a formal party, but now it's a party..... party." She said flatly, not liking the idea at all. She noticed my look. "Oh, but I'm still going. I need to take care of Liv and Ed."

Liv rolled her eyes then laughed. "I'd be fine J. Paige, you." Her hand pointed at my face. "Need to come." Enthusiasm filled her words.

"Wouldn't miss it." I smiled. "Don't leave without me, K?"

The two girls nodded and went back to work. Jeanne hated the idea of a party while Liv ached for it. Mental note, opposites do attract. Proof? These two BFs right here.

"So where exactly are we going?" I asked as we headed down to a what seemed like abandoned basement. Liv was leading the way and Jeanne stayed quiet behind me. The stairway could only fit one person so we walked in a line. Everything was almost dark with creepy lights flickering on and off on its own. "You sure this is the way Liv? I could barely see anything down here." I kept saying. "This do not seem like a great party place, or any place. "

Liv didn't answer but kept walking until we reach the bottom floor and saw a door at the end of the room. Liv gave me a suspicious smile that made me wonder more, what the hell we doing here?

Liv knocked on the door with a pattern. I noticed the pattern wasn't any random pattern. A series of dots and lines. "Morse code?"

"Yup." Liv answered as the door opened. " Welcome to The Flare."
