Aiden came at me and I easily took him down. He tried to tackle me but I reversed the situation and had him flat on his back.

"I win." I smirked at him, he growled and tried to get up.

I put more pressure on his neck with my forearm. "I wouldn't try it." I told him through gritted teeth.

I pushed off of him and took a seat next to Syl, "You could have warned me."

I rolled my eyes, "You're a werewolf, no way in hell." He growled, and advanced towards me.

Alexander stepped in front of me. "Law number one."

Sophia came up behind him and hugged him, visibly you could see that he calmed down.

"Okay." Sophia pulled him to the couch and they sat down together.

"So when did this happen?" I asked Sophia while pointing towards their hands. "This has always been a thing, but it's complicated."

I nodded and leaned on Syl. "We're mates." Syl looked at me with a confused face and I shrugged. "Explain."

"Every werewolf has another half, like how Syl is yours but different. Mates are made for each other by the Moon Goddess."

"How do you know?" Sophia smiled and looked at Aiden. "He bumped into me one day and at first I was like you guys."

Huh?

"I'm a human as well." Oh shit.

"So it took me some balls, and a scolding from Tyler to tell her what I was." Aiden chuckled.

"And if you don't want one?" Syl asked clearly fascinated. "You reject them but it's painful."

I frowned, "How do you know?"

"I kind of rejected him when he told me." Sophia said while looking guilty. "Yeah, but I got her back. Actually we got back to together after we met you guys."

"But besides that rejection is the most painful thing you could go through. It feels like your heart is being ripped out a million times." Aiden made a face probably not liking the memories.

"Wait so continue the story, how'd you know she was the one Aiden?" He shrugged looking at her while as was on her phone.

"Her scent. I just followed her scent." He smelled her? Like a dog? "Her scent?"

"Every mate has a certain scent, that's how we know they belong to us." I oohed and nodded.

"At first I wasn't so sure on who he was, but I wanted to know him. When he bumped into me, I felt like I was on fire. Then when he accidentally touched my hand there was sparks."

Wait sparks?

Syl and I looked at each other with a knowing look and that's when Tyler and Alex decided to finally make an appearance.

They stepped outside to talk I guess. Layla and Chloe had left to go check on Jake.

"Anything else we should know?" Syl asked while looking at her nails like they were the most fascinating thing in the room.

"We can speak with each other with something we call mind link." Tyler said while sitting next to Syl and Alex sat next to me on the arm of the couch.

"Kind of like basically reading each others mind?" I asked, and he nodded. "Kind of."

I was still not on board with the whole thing, I mean who would be? I'm so confused.

"Syl mind if I borrow some clothes to change?" She nodded and I got up avoiding eye contact with Alexander.

I walked to Syl's room and walked to her closet. I pulled out a pair of shorts and one of her brothers giant hoodies that was like a dress to me.

"Em." I jumped and turned around to see Alex leaning on the doorway.

I didn't say anything causing him to sigh. "Can't we talk?" I shook my head, "I have nothing to say."

I tried to walk past him but he blocked my way. "Alexander move."

"Not until you talk to me!" He said in a pleading tone

"I have nothing to say!" I shouted at him.

"What are you so afraid of?!" He shouted back, just as angry.

I glared at him, "I'm afraid to get hurt, I watched the guy I love kiss my once best friend, we were together for almost three years and he cheated on me. I've loved and I've been hurt. I'm afraid to get hurt all over again! Don't you get that?!"

"You're my mate Emily, I would never hurt you the way that he did. I can't see myself with anyone but you."

I wanted to believe him, but I couldn't. "I just .. don't know." I shook my head and walked past him after grabbing my clothes from the floor.

"Syl, I'm going home. I'll text you." Before she or anyone could protest I was out the door on my way home.

I need to think, I just need time. I got to my house and made sure to lock everything possible.

I locked myself in my room and got under the covers. It didn't take long for me to realize I wasn't going to get any sleep.

Thank god it's the weekend, I don't think I could handle school right now. I got up and just sat on my bed staring at nothing.

It was still kind of raining but I still went to stand on my balcony.

I leaned on the rail and stared at the forest. "I'm so sorry Deuce, I shouldn't have left you there." I whispered while whipping away some tears.

He was my first dog and now he's gone. What am I going to tell my parents? What will they think?

I sat on the chair I left out and pulled my knees to my chest.

I cried quietly, until I let the darkness consume me.
