Khepri sat on the bed in the little cabin fiddling with the pendant her mother had given her feeling the cool metal under her fingertips. Suddenly the door opened.

"My lady we are here" Ebony came in with a flurry of activity. Feeling suddenly panicked, she muttered a quick prayer under her breath to the goddess Renenet.*

The men in her entourage grabbed her belongings. Khepri got up straightening the folds of her simple linen white traveling gown as chaos started to descend in the cabin. Ebony barked orders to the men as they rushed past with trunks and her belongings, sighing Khepri walked out onto the deck, Ra had traveled a long distance across the sky and was starting to head towards the underworld and Osiris's domain.

Her eyes suddenly rested on the beautiful walls ahead of her, the huge wall that surrounded the temple complexes towered into the sky with huge golden doors, they were the most magnificent thing she had ever seen, her breath almost left her as she stared overwhelmed at the height of the walls and the sheer vastness of the place.

In the setting sun, the walls seemed to glow, almost as if they were on fire. She hardly noticed the captain had come to stand next to her.

"Beautiful isn't it" he whispered as the little boat nestled into the harbor between a warship and a merchant's vessel. All she could do was nod "welcome to your new home Dendera. The center of the goddess Hathor and a place of joy and love" he chuckled.

She looked and saw in the distance, hills rolling into the horizon. Ebony appeared beside her, Khepri heard her gasp as the sun dipped below the horizon casting an orange glow on the golden doors, a flock of ibis birds took to the sky flying across the glowing scene making it almost magical.

"If only Amun and Prehir were here to see this". Ebony gave her a look and Khepri realized she had spoken her thoughts aloud, silently she cursed herself and Ebony raised her brow.

The captain oblivious to her comment turned to her "Well my Lady let's get you to the temple. I know the high priestess has been eagerly awaiting your arrival" Kherpri nodded. Feeling suddenly scared again as a litter appeared and a few chariots on the land beside the boat sat patiently waiting to take her to her new home.
