The party of priestesses made their way towards the lake it was the first time Khepri had been outside Hathors temple and as she looked around she was overwhelmed by the beauty and its vastness. It all seemed so magical, almost as if the gods themselves had built it, she could imagine them roaming the corridors, she felt closer to them, than she had ever felt before.
Colossal statues of the gods, almost life like in the setting sun stood tall and majestic. There faces calm and serene. A line of straight pillars reached towards the sky, each one carved with precision depicting scenes of the gods. They passed other temples dedicated to various gods and goddesses each one just as grand and vast as the last.
The girls pointing out which gods they were dedicated too ad Khepri couldn't help but be amazed by everything. It as like she had been put under some magical spell.
Finally they reached the never ending lake, the sun disappearing behind the horizon, the girls sat down with torches that they put into the still warm sand, bringing out reed mats to sit on, they sat on the shore line drinking beer and talking.
Tabia had brought her harp with her and played a tune dedicated to Isis and Osiris telling the story of how there love overcame everything and created Horus. After the tune had finished they talked, the girls asking her about palace life and most importantly about the princes.
Khepri was careful not to reveal too much of her relationship with the princes and instead concentrated on telling them more about her mother, father and brother. Speaking about them made her realize how much she missed them going silent for a moment she touched the pendent her mother had given her feeling the cold metal against her skin.Closing her eyes she imagined there smiling faces and it brought her some comfort.
Opening her eyes again she re-joined the conversation of Asim and Hathor and laughed along with the girls. They talked all night covering themselves in fine soft linen and snuggling together to fight off the bitter cold. Watching the stars and the moon god Khonsu slide across the night sky.
