That night as she was getting ready for bed  Khepri  was very quiet. Many different thoughts ran through her head.

"My lady what is it? usually I can't get you to shut up, now you're not saying anything!" she chuckled at her own joke but Khepri only gave a lame smile.

"I got a message today from Amunher" she said coyly looking at Ebony's reaction to see what she thought.

"Ah, I knew you would get something eventually! how many times did I tell you? The palace haven't forgotten about you! I think something extraordinary would have to happen to make both the princes forget you" she laughed in mirth her chin flapping.

"So what did he say?" Ebony said becoming serious as she folded out some linen robes, laying them out for the morning.

" It didn't say much" at that Ebony raised an eyebrow "I understand if you don't want to tell your old nurse. What goes on between you and the princes is between you three" Khepri looked up from brushing her hair and gave a small sigh.

" No really he didn't , he really didn't say anything. I can show you if you like?" with that she put down her brush and reached across her small vanity table picking up the scroll and handing it to Ebony.

Ebony scanned it then turned it over as Khepri had done earlier "Hum... how odd. I could have sworn he..." she then stopped and looked down at Khepri.

"What? Eb tell me... he what?" Ebony glanced at the scroll then back at her mistresses wide eyed face. "Well there was a time, where I thought he might love you" she said quietly. Khepri sat stunned for a moment, processing what Ebony had just said "What?" she whispered, staring open mouthed at her nurse.

Ebony nodded "To be honest I actually thought both of the princes loved you" she grinned before carrying on "And in my heart I still do, this is the proof that you haven't been forgotten" she waved the scroll around in her chubby hands, her grin as wide as the sculptures of Bes.

Khepri sighed "But Eb, he is going to name his child after me" Ebony nodded again enthusiastically, her plump cheeks turning a shade of pink "yes!" she thought for a moment then carried on "Which means he holds you in high regard! And means that even now he is still thinking of you! Now finish brushing your hair" she chided.

After Khepri had brushed her hair and prayed to Hathor, Khepri climbed into bed "Eb that letter is so formal and he didn't even send love from my family or Prehir" Ebony sat on the edge of the bed and stroked some hair off her face "Maybe he didn't have time, after all he is to be our next Pharaoh, because  he is of age now his father will give him many more responsibilities. Goodnight my morning sun" with that she kissed Khepri's forehead lightly "May the gods guide your dreams" getting up off the bed she left the room.

Thanks again for reading, feel free to comment etc... you know the drill!

I have  also decided  that I will update this twice tonight  so whoop whoop. :-)

Bes: His appearance was that of a dwarf, with lion and human features. He was a complex being who was both a deity and a demonic fighter. He was a god of war, yet he was also a patron of childbirth and the home, and was associated with sexuality, humor, music and dancing. Although he began as a protector of the pharaoh, he became very popular with every day Egyptian people because he protected women and children above all others. He had no temples or Priests but became one of the most popular gods.

The ancient Egyptians also believed that Bes protected against snake and scorpion bites.
