The rest of the day went in a blur. She enjoyed her lessons and she was given a relatively easy chore to clean a corridor with Tabia and Anippe. The evening came almost too quickly and as they sat in the Great Hall feasting on the food, Khepri found she was ravenous "Told you the food was good" Anippe smiled nudging her after watching Khepri wolf down a whole plateful of honeyed fruits
"Although, I bet it isn't as good as the palace food" Pili said whilst munching gracefully on a honeyed fig "it's just as good" Khepri said whist stuffing a honeyed plum into her own mouth. "What shall we do this evening then?" Tabia inquired after passing the bowl of plums down the table to the elder priestesses.
"What about going to the lake, I saw it on my first night?" Khepri suggested as she took a bite out of a melon slice. Pili and the rest of the girls all chatted together voting "I honestly don't know, if we will be allowed" Anippe answered taking a sip of beer "Oh come on, let's go, should be fun!" Tabia grinned mischievously her eyes lighting up.
The room suddenly went silent as the high priestess came in. In beautiful turquoise robes still in her ceremonial wig, she walked over to the girls who all bowed their heads in respect. Asim followed behind the priestess a tablet in his hand he gave them all a brief smile. Khepri gazed up mesmerized by Hathors beauty, she imagined her looking just how the goddess would look with her kind eyes and beautiful face, almost like the stone carvings at the front of the temple, she could see why Asim would fall for such beauty as if sensing her thoughts, Hathor raised an eyebrow, but smiled down kindly at her
"Pardon my intrusion, I just wanted to see for myself how well you are settling in" her beautiful song like voice reverberated round the hall "I see Asim's reports were correct" she moved her hand elegantly which meant a bangle on her arm chimed.
" Yes my lady. The girls are all so lovely and everyone is so helpful" Khepri said gazing up into the blue eyes that seemed to have the ability to see into her Ka, with the feeling of being stripped again she blushed. "Good, we are a family here Lady Khepri, every priest, priestess, temple worker and scribe are all united in their love for the great goddess. Now what do you want to ask me?" she gazed still intently at Khepri whilst Khepri gazed back in complete shock "Well....myy..... Lady" she stuttered, coughing to give her a moment to find her voice again "Well we were wondering if we could go to the lake?" She gestured towards the rest of the priestess who sat quietly awaiting the high priestesses reply, all with eager faces "You may of course I would let you" she turned to Anippe "Go to the kitchens and take beer with you, say the high priestess let you" Anippe getting up with poise, nodded to the high priestess and grinned at Khepri, making her way quickly towards the kitchen.
"Be careful and make sure you return for Morning Prayer, have fun girls" she smiled one last time, a kind and motherly expression filled her perfect face, then with all the grace and poise of a goddess she left the hall leaving a waft of her blossom perfume. Asim smiled at the girls "Why don't you join us Asim?" Pili said sweetly "No I had better not. I have many things to do but you girls have fun" they all bowed their heads to him and he left following after Hathor "Yes we all know what he's got to do" Tabia declared as all the girls giggled apart from Pili who scowled "Come on let's find Anippe and get that beer" with that she strode off in a huff towards the kitchens as the rest of the girls followed giggling harder.
