Hello everyone,

Hope you all having a fab weekend?

Thank you for reading and sticking with it!

Sorry for being so slow and unreliable.

Life really does make it hard to write. I am literally having to write this at like 2 am in the morning but will go over it. Sorry for any spelling or grammatical errors!

Khepri ran along the empty corridors. She had run away from her hiding place as soon as she could. No way did she want to be seen by Wadjyt or Isenofet.

Her feet tapped quietly on the cold stone floor as she ran back towards the safety of her chamber. Her mind reeling, as she turned a corner she found herself face to face with Prince  Ramesses. He looked startled as he saw her then a smile crossed his face not quite reaching his, cold, hard eyes.

"Khepri what are you doing up this late?"

Thinking quickly she responded with.

"I was actually looking for you" she said pleasantly a sweet smile, she forced upon her face.

He looked surprised but then intrigued.

"Oh, You were?" A slight furrow appeared between his brows.

"Yes" she said brightly.

"I wanted to apologize for not telling you sooner about me and Prehir and hope that we are still friends."

He smiled at her, a slow sad smile.
"Of course, we will never not be friends Khepri."

With that he surprised her by pulling her into a hug just as Wadjyt appeared.

Khepri pulled away quickly.

Wadjyt stared at them both. At first startled, then a small smile crept across her face. Her eyebrows raised and her eyes alighted with mischief. No sign of her previous encounter was written on her face apart from a small red bruise that was starting to appear.

"Well, who would have thought?" she smirked, her beautiful face shining with the thrill of this gossip.

Khepri opened her mouth to speak but Ramesses spoke first.

"It's nothing. I was just making up with her after being upset with her, but she apologized to me and that's all." His tone, was a matter of fact and holding no emotion.

Wadjyt continued to smile, it was more though aimed at Ramesses.

"Well, if that's all it was you won't mind me telling Preher."

She spoke sweetly as if her voice was dripping in honey.

"Of course. It's so nice, that you have both made up again."

With that, she turned, walking swiftly back the way she had come before either of them could reply.

Ramesses, watched her go before turning back to Khepri and again thanking her before walking away along the empty corridor. Leaving Khepri standing alone.

Running back to her chamber, she slid into her dark room, breathing hard. The torches had all but gone out, only the fading moonlight shone in.

Falling onto her bed, she lay staring at the ceiling. Her head racing with thoughts of all that she had heard this night.

Replaying it over and over.

Khepri sat bolt upright. Her mind was dazed with confusion. The slap still rung in her ears. As if it had been her own cheek that had been slapped.

Should she say something? What would she say?

She had no idea how long she sat in the darkness. Her mind whirling and whirling, going in endless circles.

Soon light filled the chamber. The day had been won by Ra and he had arisen from the underworld. She watched Ra rise, higher and higher into the blue vast sky. Like a hawk, watching its prey. She stared intently at the horizon. As the rays of sun touched every inch of Pharoh Ramesses kingdom, evaporating the darkness back into the underworld.

Staring, the room seemed to disappear around her. Her head suddenly went empty, as all thoughts left her. The light was all she could see,  it was bright goldern and blinding, but then figures appeared within the light. They grew bigger and more distinguished, she could make out they were Preher and Amunher. Their faces were white, eyes sunken in, dim and lifeless, and they were both soaked in blood. It dripped from their fingers, their nermes headdress, and seemed to seep out from every inch of them onto the floor, pooling around their feet.

"Help us Khep" they whispered. Their dead eyes fixed on her's, reaching for her, slowly.

Suddenly, the light disappeared as well as Preher and Amun and she was back in her chamber. The door opened and in came Ebony, humming to herself not sensing Khepri's distress. Not even glancing at Khepri, she chatted away to herself, animated.

Khepri registered her mouth was moving, heard the sound of her voice, floating as if it were far away, on the wind or in the Nile, only hearing certain words.

Khepri felt the tears slide down her face then everything went black.
