Ps: sorry have updated this on my mobile sooo it might not be as good in terms of grammar and punctuation because my phone has a tendency to also automatically correct my work until it makes no sense. So again apologies for that. Will re-do on laptop!

The Pharaoh's Wrath

They lay intertwined. Her thoughts going back to what Ramesses said about him having a duty to Wadjyt. She knew in her heart that was right. It had the unnerving experience of startling her back to reality.

This moment was not the truth. He was married now. Even if she became his wife she would have to allow for the fact that Wadjyt would be there by her side like a shadow infiltrating her sunshine. Vying for power. Each step she took would be either bringing her closer to her own demise or Wadjyt's.

She was playing a dangerous game. One she wasn't sure how to play. One she knew that had the potential to burn her.

Turning onto her side she saw the sleeping form of Prehir. The moonlight touched his skin making him look almost dream like. Like a god. His look was utter contentment. As his arm draped around hers in a protective manner.

Suddenly the silence was interrupted by a small tapping sound coming from the door. Listening she heard it again and then a voice came with it.

"My lady. Are you in there? "

She could hear Ebony's voice on the other side. It was low but frantic.

" My lady"

She repeated the whisper getting more aggressive and the tapping getting more relentless.

Enough to be waking up Prehir from his slumber. She disconnected herself from him and he groaned his voice drowsy with sleep.

"What is it?"

"It's just Ebony" she replied " she is at the door"

He grunted.

she pulled back the covers and got out of bed covering herself in her shift as she went and padded over to the door.

Opening it she saw Ebony in the hallway looking distraught.

"My lady"

Khepri motioned her inside and shut the door behind her.

Prehir by this time had sat up in bed and was wiping the sleep from his eyes. His hair disheveled.

Khepri was instantly aware that it was obvious they had ,had sex and felt her cheeks redden even if it was just Ebony.

" What is it? " She said distracting herself from her thoughts.

"I'm sorry. " Ebony started bowed to them both before continuing.

" You both missed the feast. Your wedding feast. "
She looked at Prehir.

"Your father noticed and Wadjyt has been playing the victim saying that on her wedding night of all nights you are both together and you aren't with her. "
She paused taking a deep breath before continuing again.

"I came as quickly as I could because your father is coming. I wanted to warn you both. The whole court is talking about you two and they are all upset for Wadjyt. Your father wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt and kept saying you would attend the feast eventually but you never showed up"

At that Ebony turned white. Listening they could hear angry footsteps coming from the corridor.

Jumping out of bed still naked Prehir grabbed a skirt and tied it quickly around his waist.

"Thank you for coming Ebony. We are in your debt."

He looked at Khepri .

"It seems we must tell everyone your decision now."

Ebony looked between them clearly confused. Her head going from one to the other.

"You will find out presently Eb"

Ebony's face became  a picture in the moonlight. Her eyebrows raised so high they almost went into her forehead. Her chin wobbling from side to side as her head moved so fast  but without a word she just nodded and lit the torches around the chamber.

Just as the doors burst open.

Wadjyt appeared behind the Pharaoh. Her eyes glistening with fresh tears.

Amunher and Prince Ramesses also stood with her as well as Meritamen and Nefertari. They faces all a picture of shock, although both Amun and Ramesses turned to sadness.

" So it is true"

The Pharaoh said his voice quivering with anger.

" Abi"

Prehir started but was silenced quickly by his father who put his hand up.

"You have both disappointed me."

He looked from both Prehir to Khepri.

She put her head down feeling her cheeks burning crimson.

"The one day where I ask you to do your duty as a prince of Egypt. Where I ask you to respect me and respect your wife. You dishonor me and her. Your mawat would be displeased."

" But Abi. I have asked Khepri to be my wife. "

Amun looked like he has been stabbed his face going pale. Ramesses the prince took a step backwards in shock his mouth falling open. Wadjyt's reaction was the most terrifying. Her eyes glinted with pure hatred. The only person who seemed happy was Meritamen who grinned enthusiastically behind her father and the others and gave Khepri an excited little wave.

" Everyone out"

The Pharaoh cried. His voice filling the chamber with a loud boom scaring them all.

They all bowed quickly before taking there leave apart from Wadjyt who hesitated in the doorway but the Pharaoh gave her such a look that she soon retreated with the rest.

Ebony was the last to leave she shared a look with Khepri as she closed the door. Her face worried but she gave a small  soft smile which instantly reassured her.

As the door closed it left the three of them standing in Silence.
