CALUM
"Hi kids, how was the first day of school?" Mum asked when Della and I came into the kitchen and slumped into chairs at the island.
"It was okay mum." I answered as I ran a hand through my hair.
"You both look tired." Mum said and placed a plate of cookies on the counter. "We had PE last period. Suicides and pushups." Della explained as we each grabbed a cookie. Mum smiled in understanding.
"Track and footie tryouts are soon though. Same with hockey and cheerleading and whole bunch of others." I piped up and Della smiled. "Are you trying out for anything?" She asked and grabbed another cookie, taking a bite. A crumb fell on her chin and I wiped it away with my thumb.
"Football. You should try out for track. You were killing though suicides today." I said and Della blushed.
"Oh my god, Della you should try out for cheerleading!" Mali exclaimed as she skipped into the kitchen and grabbed the milk out of the fridge before swiping a cookie.
"Eh, I don't think so. I can't even dance." Della frowned and Mali shrugged. "They'll teach you. It's really fun and you get to wear a cute uniform and yell at people." She giggled as Della held back a smile.
"Mali this isn't Bring It On." She said finally smiling and I laughed.
"You should still try out though." Mali said encouragingly and patted Della's shoulder before disappearing to who knows where. I turned back to Della, who had a thoughtful look on her face.
"Pizza tonight kids." Mum said and walked into the living room to order online.
Della turned to me. "Do you think I should try out? I mean, maybe I could make some friends. I'm sure you boys don't want me hanging around you all the time." I shook my head. "Babe, we don't mind. Plus, the boys love you." I smiled and Della nodded, silently saying okay. "And yes, I think you should try out. For track and cheerleading." I added as an afterthought.
DELLA
I munched on my ham and pineapple pizza as I thought about going for tryouts.
Track sounded more like my forte than cheerleading but I decided I would try out for both. Maybe I'll actually be decent and make both teams.
After dinner, I trailed up to my room and pulled out my notebook, preparing to write my English paper. I tapped my pen on the blank page for a few minutes, trying to think of something to write about myself.
Somehow my mind drifted off and I woke up to Calum shaking me. I sprung up from my desk with a gasp.
"Della, are you okay? You were squirming in your sleep and breathing really heavy." He sat me down on my bed and pulled me into his side. I was covered in sweat and my notebook had fallen to the floor.
"I..I don't know. I think I was having a bad dream." I sighed and leaned into Calum, feeling safer.
I remember having nightmares while I was in the hospital. The shrink from the psych floor said it was probably caused by the car crash. But I could never remember what I'd dreamt about, just that I'd wake up screaming bloody murder and thrashing.
"It's okay babe, you're safe now. I'm here, you're okay." Calum hugged me and kissed my forehead in a comforting way.
I nodded, willing the tears in my eyes to go away.
"Calum?" I asked hesitantly.
"Yeah babe?" I looked out the windows of the French doors to find it was dark outside.
"Can we watch a movie?" I asked and rung my hands.
Calum seemed to understand as he nodded and left my room. While he was getting his laptop, I changed into my pajamas, a black shirt with Spongebob shorts. I climbed into my bed and made myself comfortable. Calum came in a minute later with his laptop, dressed in a band shirt and sweatpants.
"So, what movie tonight?" He asked as he settled himself beside me.
"The Lion King." I whispered and he chuckled.
"Okay, The Lion King it is."

I feel like Calum and Della's relationship comes off as a little incesty?
Doesn't matter cause I like it so fight me. :)
