I don't remember who the Ritter family was.

And I'm glad I don't.

The Ritter family was dysfunctional and sad. Angry father and addict mother with a child who hadn't done anything to deserve the hurt she received.

I feel sorry for Adelina Ritter.

She is who I used to be. But I'm thankful to be Adelina Hood now. Becoming a Hood was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. I have a good life, and a loving, caring family.

Michael was right. That accident saved my life. And I thank the universe for giving me another chance.

Days later, I found myself lying weightlessly on the beach.

The same beach I found laughter, pleasure and freedom.

The sun was on fire and the sand equally as hot. But neither could beat the cool sensation of the salty water. Whether you were dipping your toes in or catching a wave with a board, everyone welcomed summer with a splash.

Londie and I were laid out on our towels one weekend, watching the boys play with a Frisbee from afar.

"Del? I have a question."

I turned to my friend and took a sip of my water.

"Does Ashton...have like, a girlfriend?" Londie sputtered out and I chuckled. "You like him." It was a simple statement. And true.

Londie blushed madly and shook her head. "N-no. I was just wondering."

"You suck at lying, Captain Obvious. Ashton is a single pringle. So make your move blondie."

"Okay fine. I like him."

I laughed again. "We've established that already." I nudged her and she smiled softly.

"Look, I know everyone treats Ashton differently sometimes cause of his ADHD but its not like he's from another planet. My advice, just tell him. Don't tip toe around him or he'll think that you don't like him. I can promise that Ashton thinks of you the same way you think of him."

Londie smiled and gave me a hug.

"Thanks Della. You're right. Besides, I don't wanna miss a chance with Ashton if I'm given one. I'll tell him later tonight."

I grinned and gestured behind her. "Or you can tell him now."

Londie turned to see Ashton heading towards us with the Frisbee. She blushed madly and tried to calm herself.

"Hey Londie! Do you wanna help me look for cool rocks and shells?" Ashton asked in a sweet and excited voice. I almost cooed at him.

Londie smiled shyly. "Sure Ash. Sounds like fun." She said and stood up.

Ashton grinned and grabbed her hand, pulling her away excitedly. A chuckle came from behind me and I nearly jumped.

"They're totally gonna fall in love. Just like us." Michael said as he knelt down and wrapped his arms around me. I leaned into him and sighed contently.

"Let's go swimming in that cave. It's too hot out here." Michael suggested and though I wasn't facing him, I could practically see the mischievous smile on his face.

I took advantage of this moment and rolled my eyes victoriously. Then I stood up and let my now blonde-haired boyfriend take my hand and lead me to the cave.

"I know exactly what you're planning Mikey, and Jesus does too." I whispered.

"Oh come on Del."

I giggled. "But it's not like I'm complaining...or religious."

"You may be an angel but you are definitely not religious babe." Michael snorted as we entered the cave.

I turned to Michael as we stood at the edge of the cliff. "You can still take me to church Mikey. I'll pay for my sins one way or another."

Michael's playful eyes spread with lust and I felt myself get excited. I kissed him. It was full of need and want and adventure.

Adrenaline quickly took over me and the next thing I knew we had jumped off the cliff and I was swimming to the surface.

When I surfaced, I was breathing heavily and all I could think about was Michael. All I could hear, smell and see was Michael.

Soft lips were placed on mine and all I could feel was Michael fucking Clifford.

And all I could do was love him.
