I made the squad. And the track team.
I refrained from jumping up and down when I looked at the bulletin board outside the gym where official team lists were posted.
I could do a fucking herky but I'd probably end up kicking Calum in the face so I won't.
Practices start in a couple weeks and our first pep rally is after school on Halloween.
Calum and Ashton made the football team and Luke made the hockey team. I gave him a hug when he told me and he laughed.
"Congratulations kids!" Joy said when we got home. Mali squealed and hug us. Calum covered his ears and I just smiled.
"Oh my god, Della this is so exciting!" Mali said as she geeked out. "You're gonna have so much fun. I'm definitely coming to Calum's football games now." She laughed as Calum scoffed. "Mali you only go cause mum makes you."
"Yeah but now I have a reason to sit through two hours of you kicking a ball." Mali said and Calum rolled his eyes.
"Rude."

My first cheer practice was a nightmare.
We spent two incredibly slow and painful hours learning a single routine.
Tanya did not go easy on us. Even though she said we aren't a competitive squad, she still worked us like one. Track practice was much easier. Coach Taylor just had us work on proper stretches for running. Then he made us run three miles. At every practice, he'd add another mile to push us. It was hard work but I loved it.
Halloween was approaching fast and talk about trick 'r treating and costumes were all I heard about. I was sitting in the library with the boys one day during lunch break when Ashton told us he was gonna be a pirate.
"I'm gonna be Batman, again." Luke said and I chuckled. I looked at Calum and he shrugged.
"Oh my god Calum, you could be Robin! It'd be awesome!" Luke said a little too loud and the librarian shushed him angrily. He shrunk in his seat but continued to grin at Calum.
A thoughtful look crossed Cal's face before he smiled and nodded. "Sure why not." Luke bounced in his seat excitedly before giving Calum a quick hug.
"Michael, how about you?" Ashton asked as he ate an apple. Michael shrugged. "I don't know. I was kind of thinking I would just glue a bunch of fake wounds all over and cover myself in fake blood." I smiled. "That sounds cool." Michael nodded.
"And what are you, Miss Della, going to be for Halloween?" He asked and leaned forward. I blinked.
"I..I don't know. I don't remember what I've been before." I looked away for a moment and felt Calum's hand squeeze mine. I gave him a weak smile. It was silent for a minute. Then an idea popped into my head.
"I know. I'll surprise you guys." I said grinning. Michael looked at me with an eyebrow raised. I just bit my lip. This was gonna be fun.
Before anyone could say anything else, the bell rang and we made our way to class.

A couple days before Halloween, I had asked Mali if she could help me find a costume.
She drove us to the mall and we stormed into the Halloween store. I was so excited. I really wanted to surprise the boys. Mali and I walked through the store three times before we left and I felt defeated.
I almost picked up a pin up girl costume but the shirt was too low-cut.
When we got home, I trudged up the stairs to my room after reassuring Mali I was fine and thanking her for helping.
I saw at my desk and did my homework while listening to Ed Sheeran. The video for Give Me Love was playing and I sang along softly as I wrote down the answer to a math problem.
I watched as the cupid girl shot people with her arrow and I awed at all the lovers.
That's when an idea hit me and I squealed and called Mali.
"What it is?" She asked concerned as she sat on my bed. I grinned at her, excitedly.
"I know what to be for Halloween."

If you can guess what Della's gonna be for Halloween, I'll give you a cookie.
