Karlie gripped her mother as she sobbed uncontrollably. Her sisters had walked in the front door and were drawn to the kitchen, where they heard sobbing. Upon seeing their mom and sister on the floor, the three girls completely broke down. The three made their way to the floor where they all wrapped their arms around each other. To her sisters delight, Karlie welcomed the embrace.
They all made their way to the living room, where Karlie laid her head on her mother's lap, while being sprawled out on the couch. Her sisters sat across from them on the love seat. Tracy stroked her daughters hair, as she reminisced how she used to do that all the time whenever Karlie was sad or had a stomachache. Karlie's body was trembling, while she continued to cry.
"Shhh baby, you're going to be ok. We are going to get through this together, Karlie."
They sat on the couch for hours, as Karlie eventually fell asleep. Tracy refused to leave her side and just continued to stroke her hair, while the others girls made something quick to eat, before heading up to their bedrooms.
Eventually Karlie woke up to the dark living room. She realized that she was still on the couch and that her mom was still right there. Tracy has her head tilted back against the couch as she had fallen asleep. Karlie just smiled as she removed herself and grabbed a blanket to cover her mom.
She made her way up to her room where she sat on the edge of the bed. Glancing over at her nightstand, she saw her cell phone and grabbed it. Slowly, she scrolled through her contacts until she found the name she was looking for.
Karlie held the phone to her ear as it began to ring. After a few rings, a familiar voice said, "Hello?"
"Hi. It's Karlie. I need your help."
"I'm so glad you called Karlie. Tell me what's been going on."
"Miss Simpson, will this all stay confidential? I don't know if Taylor is seeing you on her own, but I don't want her to know that I'm talking to you."
"Karlie, you have nothing to worry about. Everything is 100% confidential. My patients are not privy to knowing who I treat."
"Ok."
Karlie began to open up. She spoke about how inadequate she feels all the time, like nothing she ever does is ever good enough. She spoke about how she tries to do so much, for so many people and that she's afraid.
"What are you afraid of Karlie?"
"I'm afraid of not being able to find happiness without Taylor."
"Tell me what you would like to see happen."
"I don't want to lose her. I love her so much and I'm just afraid that I'm not enough for her. She doesn't trust me and I don't know what to do."
Karlie began to cry. She looked up to see her door slowly open. It was Kimby.
"Can you hold on Miss Simpson?"
"Sure."
"Hey Kimby. What are you doing up so late?"
"I heard you crying and I wanted to see if you were ok."
Karlie smiled, as she thanked her sister.
Kimby hugged her sister super tight as she said, "I love you Karlie. We'll all be here to help you, ok?"
Karlie nodded her head as Kimby made her way back to her bedroom.
"Are you still there Miss Simpson?"
"I am. It sounds like you have a pretty strong supporter with you."
"Yeah, I'm with my mom and sisters in St. Louis. They keep me grounded and provide a sense of balance in my life."
