Scene 18
Jackie goes back to school to her study group.
Sandy: I can't believe you got the third one right, jerk!
Zack: What about you, Jacks?
(Jackie is reading the essay contest topicks when Zack takes it out of her hand.)
Jackie: If you wanted to hold my hand, all you had to do was ask.
Zack: Holy crap! How did you get an A on this?
Rachel: Jackie was short-listed for the scholarship. You know, the big one.
Zack: Congratulations! You should have told somebody.
Jackie: I just found out like five minutes ago. I still have to write this essay, though - "Why I Should Be The One To Get All Of Your Money." One of those.
Sandy: - Like it matters.
Rachel: - Sandy.
Jackie: (Confused) What do you mean?
Sandy: I'm just sayin', I think it's great that you work so hard even though you don't have to like the rest of us.
Jackie: Why don't I have to?
Sandy: Because you have a career already. It's not like you'll have to get a job as a therapist when you grow up.
Zack: Why don't you grow up? You don't know that about her.
Sandy: I'm not criticizing, I'm just saying. Jackie, you know I think you're great, honest.
Jackie: Yeah, I know.
Sandy: (to Zack) See?
(Jackie gets up packs her stuff to leave)
Rachel: Do you have to go?
Jackie: Yeah, sorry. I just remembered something.
Rachel: By the way, I signed us up for that research participation thing. I can't remember the date exactly, but it's on the board.
Jackie: Thanks. See you guys later.
