Scene 35

Jackie gets up and walks towards the door to leave.

Catherine: Jackie?!

Jackie: (turns around, with eyes filled with tears) Yeah?

(Catherine get up walks towards Jackie, grabs her by the waist and presses her against the wall. They make out passionately when Jackie brings her hand up in between them)

Jackie: Catherine. Wait, I cant. I'm sorry. I can't do this again.

Catherine: what do you mean?

Jackie: I have to go.

(Jackie walks out of the room)

C* I cant let her get away again. I wont make the same mistake I made when I brought that guy home from the party what was I thinking. Come on Catherine, go after her.

Catherine goes out of the room, runs down the stairs only to see Jackie sitting on the bottom of the stairs with her face in her hands.

Jackie: This is as far as I was able to come. Catherine I don't want to leave.

Catherine: Oh porcupine, I don't want you to leave either, but I thought that's what you wanted.

Jackie: I know. I was just confused when you told me to take the job. I thought you would ask me to stay, and when you didn't...

Catherine: (sits down next to her) I meant it when I told you to take the job. As much as I wanted you to choose me over your job, I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I ended up being the reason for you to give up your career.

Jackie I love you. I have loved you since the first time I saw you in Hecht's office, it just took me a long time to realize that I am madly in love with you.

Jackie: (Takes Catherine's hand, but doesn't say anything)

Catherine: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said tha...

Jackie: (cuts her off) No, no. I'm sorry. I just don't know what to say. I mean I Know what to say, it's just that I have to be in LA in a few hours.

Catherine: Um... Okay. I understand. (Pulls her hand away from Jackie's)

(Catherine gets up and walks over to the bar)

Jackie: What are you doing?

Catherine: Getting a drink.

Jackie: Do you think that is the best choice right now?

Catherin: What do you mean Jackie? I just told you that I love you, and what do I get in return? "I don't know what to say. I have to be in LA soon"?

Jackie: Hey! You have no right! I was willing to fight for us, remember?

You are the one who told me that I was not worth it.

Catherine: What did you expect Jackie? I was hurt. We had just gotten back from your party where you just left me alone, or have you forgotten that.

That night when we came home from the airport, on my birthday. Do you remember? I told you that I love you, but you were sleeping. The next morning, what do I wake up to? You telling me that you are thinking abut moving back to LA.

Jackie: Why didn't you tell me that, when I told you about the job?

Catherine: I was scared! Ok Jackie? I was scared of having my heart shattered. I was scared of you choosing your career over me. I thought making you go would be easier than having my heart broken.

(Catherine kneels on the ground and starts to cry)

(Jackie walks over to her side)

Jackie: (kneels next to Catherine) Hey. (Lifts Catherine's head to face her) I love you too. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything. For leaving you alone during the party and for not letting you know that I would give it all up for you.

Catherine, I wouldn't want a life filled with fame and success if I wont be able to share it with you.

Catherine: (cups Jackie's face) [kisses Jackie] I love you porcupine.

Jackie?

Jackie: (laughs) yeah?

Catherine: your interview?!

Jackie: Crap. Um..

Catherine: Go, Ill be here when you get back.

(Jackie get us to leave but turns to Catherine)

Jackie: Catherine?

Catherine: Ya?

Jackie: Come to LA with me?... Think about it, we'll talk when I get back.

Catherine: (Smiles and wipes her tears away.)
