It was Saturday morning when I woke up, the cold air slapping my face. As always, I forgot to close my windows. Don’t blame me. I’m just too lazy to stand at night just to close my windows.
Right, I thought to myself… practices.
The phone rang and I left it all to mom to answer.
“Chloe!” she called from downstairs. You got a call!”
“Coming,” I yelled back.
I took the phone. It was Megan.
“We’re picking you up in 5 minutes.”
“It’s too early, Meg. What’s the fuss?”
I heard her give out a loud sigh. “Try-outs are rescheduled. It’s today, Chloe.” Is she serious?!
“You mean now? Like, now?!” I hastily asked.
Say no, say no.
“Obviously, what the hell do you think I am calling you for? 4 minutes!” she reminded. Well, she has a point, though.
“I thought you said 5?”
“Now stop talking and move!” she demanded.
Jeez! I didn’t get the chance to even practice. How the hell will I even make it to the team?
I was done pampering myself when they arrived. They had good sense of timing.
Their eyes widened when they saw me walk out of the house.
Crap. Their looks don’t seem so good.
“Gee, Chloe. Why so conservative?” Maki told me.
“I have short shorts underneath. Now shall we go?”
The drive to school took us more or less fifteen minutes. It’s early Saturday morning. Why am I here again? Remind me. Oh.
As soon as we got off the car, a tall guy came to us. “Change into your jerseys and we’ll be starting in 2 minutes.” Before he left, he gave me one last look and winked.
Winked. Winked? Winked! Yes. He did wink at me, didn’t he? Oh gosh, oh gosh, that was cute.
He looks familiar. I’ve seen him somewhere before. Big question is, where?
“Girl power,” Maki said, merely clapping her hand, “Hands in!”
“Let’s do this,” Dona grinned. This jerk is too desperate to try everything just for her crush.
“1, 2, 3, fight!”
I have been nuts for thinking that I could really do this. I wanna go home right now. My mind was unfocused. I was unfocused.
That guy, who was he, really? Looks like he’s got a hot personality that perfectly match his strong muscular body. Broad shoulders, tan skin, deep dark eyes, with perfect white teeth. He was too good to be true. Hell, yeah.
“Who’s he?” I asked Dona, pouting my lips at the guy who just winked at me.
Dona gave me a huge grin. Another creepy creature. Alert, alert!
“What?” I asked her.
“Don’t you really remember him? Or were you just trying to pretend you really don’t remember him?” Would I even ask if I know?
