Few minutes later, Matt came inside the room, bringing two glasses with him. He handed me one of the glass he was bringing. “Here,” he told me.
I took a smell of it. My nose wrinkled when I realized it had a scent of vodka with lime or something. “What is this?”
Taking a sip from his own glass, he said, “It’s just a drink, Chloe. Cosmopolitan is not that strong. I promise I didn’t put anything to it.”
I’ve never heard of a Cosmo drink. All I knew was a Cosmo magazine.
“And what makes you think I’ll believe you?”
Leaning against the wall, he said, “Aw, come on. Don’t be like that. Trust me, it’s good.”
I sat on the edge of his bed as I took a sip of the drink he gave me. Hmmm, it isn’t that bad. And I was right. It tasted more on vodka, cranberry juice and with lime. I don’t know, but it tastes really good. Thinking that this won’t harm me, I took another sip until I came to realize I finished the whole thing.
Matt was smirking at me as he walked towards me. “Stay right here, I’ll just check the people downstairs. They probably ruined the entire place. I’ll be right back,” he told me, handing to me his own glass. “Here, you can have mine.” Me? Sharing a glass with Matt? Isn’t it an indirect kiss?
I grabbed it and followed him towards the door. As soon as Matt left me alone in the room, I decided to take a look at our old pictures.
When I noticed I also finished Matt’s drink, I put it aside and decided to continue looking at the framed pictures. Few minutes later I couldn’t even walk up straight. I started to become tipsy as my surroundings was slowly swirling.
Matt. He gave me a Cosmopolitan. Was that drink that strong? Clueless as ever!
My phone buzzed inside my pocket and I took it out to answer the call. As expected, it was Kean.
“Hello?” I said as I started walking towards the bed.
“Are you alright?”
I groaned as my head started to ache. “I’m tired. I want to sleep, I’m dizzy.
“Shit,” I heard Kean swear over the phone. “Were you drinking?”
Lying on Matt’s bed, I shifted into a comfortable position. “Um, I was just tasting? I was so thirsty and Matt gave me a drink. He said it wasn’t that strong.”
“And you believed him?!” Kean yelled. Jeez, no need to shout, Kean. It’s no big deal. “Did he mention what drink was that?”
My eyes felt heavy and sooner or later I know I’ll be knocked out. “Cosmopolitan.”
“Fuck it. That drink’s strong for you, Chloe. I told you to never accept drinks from anyone. Where are you?”
I yawned, pressing my temple with my thumb. “I’m in Matt’s room.”
“I’ll be there. Wait for me.”
“Alright,” I said as I heard Kean cut off the line.
The longer I tried to stay awake, the longer my eyelids felt heavy. I closed my eyes. A nap won’t hurt.
*
I felt the bed moving. Was this an earthquake? Oh god, save me. I’m too young to die, really. I have too many plans for the future. I still have to find a boyfriend, and then we could get married and have beautiful kids. Okay, I’m exaggerating.
